I'm not able to boot w/ the Unibeast USB flash drive or an SSD pulled from a working ASUS P67 running Mac OS 10.9.1 w/ Chimera 2.2.1.

I have:
GA-Z87N-Wifi, flashed w/ F5 BIOS
i7 4770K
SanDisk Extreme II 240GB
GTX460

Booting hangs. I see the drive LED light turn on for a bit. I set the BIOS to "Legacy"

The last screen is as follows. When I try to boot off the SSD , I don't see the lines below that start w/ "*".
Longterm timer threshold: 1000 ms
PMAP: PCID enabled
PMAP: Supervisor Mode Execute Protection enabled
Darwin Kernel Version 13.0.0: Thu Sep 19 22: 22:27 pdt 2013, root:xnu-2422.1.72~6/RELEASE_X86_64

zone leak detection enabled
~vm_compressor_mode" is 4
standard timeslicing quantum is 10000 us
standard background quantum is 2500 us
mig_table_maxdispl = 74
TSC Deadline timer supported and enabled

*init
*probe
*NullCPUPowerManagement::start
*start
AppleKeyStore starting (BUILT: Sep 19 2013 22:20:34)

When I try to boot from the Unibeast USB flash drive with:
-v GraphicsEnabler=No dart=0
it gets past the above point to where RAM disks are created and my other drives are mounted and goes a bit further, but then the screen goes dark.

I've tried setting the BIOS to disable the Intel integrated graphics, but that doesn't appear to have any effect.

Any idea?

I would recommend setting up your BIOS similarly to the guide Tonymac posted here. It is for Ivy Bridge 7-series chipsets, but I'm sure there are many similarities between the two.

Been having issues getting into OS X after install. Successfully installed Windows 7 on to 500GB drive - unplugged and plugged in SSD. Successfully completed OS X Mavericks install through Unibeast onto Samsung 120GB SSD. After installation is completed it asks to restart. Restart computer and boot to the new Mavericks drive. It hits the Apple loading page, and that's it. I let it run for up to 30 minutes with no progress. Tried these in the boot loader separately and in sequence ... -x, GraphicsEnabler=Yes (and tried No). Double checked all my bios settings - even reset them and tried fresh. Unplugged GPU and tried using on board graphics, same issue. Even erased SSD and re-installed. Anyone have any ideas?

Case: BitFenix Prodigy Mini-ITX
MB: Gigabyte GA-Z87N Wifi
CPU: Intel i5-4670 Haswell 3.4GHz
RAM: G.Skill Ares 16GB 1600MHz
GPU: AMD Radeon 6850 - 1GB (using old card till I can upgrade)
SSD: Samsung EVO 120GB
PSU: Thermaltake Smart 750W

Make sure you're booting with the UniBeast USB thumb drive into your newly installed Mavericks. If you are, try hitting the Spacebar at the Chimera screen, make sure the newly installed Mavericks installation is highlighted and hit the spacebar again. In the window, type -x and hit Return.

I have tried all of that. I know my Unibeast drive works fine because I can get OS X completely installed and running solo off my Media PC without a hitch. But on this machine unibeast/chimera is coming up in some strange DOS format. I've never seen this before and I am slightly confused by it. Is this a clue to my problem or is this sometimes normal?

justein230,

Thanks for the tip about setting the BIOS properly. It turns out I didn't have them set correctly. Also I hadn't mentioned that I also had a 1TB hard drive.

The boot, however, still got stuck after:
AppleKeyStore starting (BUILT: Sep 19 2013 22:20:34)

I put my drives back into my older Hackintosh, but I later tried the GA-Z87N-Wifi w/ just the USB stick and without the drives, and that got to the installation screen.

I put my drives back in and it hung again after "AppleKeyStore". Then I disconnected my hard drive so my SSD was the only SATA device connected.

After that it came up, used non-DSDT in MultiBeast. Connected my hard drive after installation. It's now working fine -- dual monitors, speaker output, Bluetooth, hard drive.

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts in this thread and to those who slogged through the hard stuff to write the guides!

Hi there, I think I got the same problem like you, I think it is the driver problem. I installed the ML. After installed the Mac, it stuck on the Apple loading screen. I think a way to get into the system, using the direction key to select the drive that you have the system on, hit space key and type -x. It is a safe mode to get into the system with the basic driver. hope will work for you. Remember you have to key you USB on your computer and boot from it. However, when you take out the USB, the system will not to able to starts.

Hi, I love your build and i plan to build one almost the same as yours. THe part that makes me nervous is checking the correct boxes for multibeast. I will be using multibeast v 6.2.1 on Mavericks 10.9.2 which is very similar to the version you used of multibeast but it does have added options.

For example:

For Drives, disk, do I want to choose TRIM enabler? I don't even know what that is.
For Network, intel, which version of AppleintelE1000e do I choose? 2.4.14? 2.5.4d? or 3.0.4?
For Network, Realtek do I need to choose anything here?
For customize, boot options..do I choose 1080p display mode if i will be using a dell ultrasharp that has a 2560x1440 resolution?

Thanks for your help on this.

For Drives...TRIM is for SSDs. Choose this if your Mavericks installation is on a SSD.

For Network, Choose the Intel Ethernet driver in the current MultiBeast for Mavericks. (I'm assuming you will be only using this Ethernet port.)

For your Dell, don't choose the 1080p option as that's only for monitors with a 1920x1080 resolution.
