Yeah, but I just replaced it because the one I was using that came with the laptop sucked. Not having wireless for now isn't a deal breaker cause I can just plug the thing in. Besides there are drivers for the card in the works so I'll just wait for them to come out...

I'm having a problem getting the boot loader to work right. If I boot from the usb it works but I tried installing chameleon and when I select my other harddrive the screen just flashes and it boots to windows.

Right now I have a 250 gb Samsung 840 SSD in port 0 and that houses my win 7 install and all of its data. I also have a 640 gb HDD in port 1 which houses a 300 gb partition for extra large data storage, a 100 gb partition for OS X, and a 100 gb partition / swap for ubuntu.

Since chameleon isn't working what do I need to do to be able to boot from all 3 without the usb stick.

  • I can't find a voodoo audio driver that works for my audio. Under windows it shows up as IDT high definition audio. Is there a specific version of the drive you recommend.
  • If I start it up with the ethernet cable plugged in it works fine but if I unplug it, it keeps getting a self assigned address and won't work. What's up with that.
  • Is there a way to get it to read my battery level on my laptop
  • Also whenever I go into OS X and switch back to windows my time is messed up...

I know it's a lot but those are really the only things left to fix.

Where do you see this?

"Select my other harddrive" with what?

You have two choices:
- install boot0md to the MBR of your SSD (boot1h and /boot would live on the OS X partition on your HDD)

Or:
- set the BIOS priority to boot from your HDD (install the entire bootloader including boot0md to the HDD)

Note: If your HDD has 4k sectors (sounds like it may), you need to do the boot0 fix: http://www.tonymacx86.com/25-boot0-error-official-guide.html

[*]I can't find a voodoo audio driver that works for my audio. Under windows it shows up as IDT high definition audio. Is there a specific version of the drive you recommend.

I recommend patched AppleHDA. You need to know your codec id. Google for 'patch AppleHDA guide'. Follow the instructions to collect a codec dump from Linux.

What driver are you using for Ethernet?

[*]Is there a way to get it to read my battery level on my laptop

Yes. You need a battery manager: https://github.com/RehabMan/OS-X-ACPI-Battery-Driver

And probably DSDT patches: https://github.com/RehabMan/Laptop-DSDT-Patch

[*]Also whenever I go into OS X and switch back to windows my time is messed up...

Google for 'RealTimeIsUniversal windows registry'

Ok so I fixed the boot loader, the time issue, and partially fixed the battery issue.

I got the battery manager but it says no battery available. So, what DSDT patches do I need for my laptop? It's a dv6t-7000.

I'm using the ethernet driver that you linked me two a couple of posts back and I think I fixed the problem but haven't tested it yet.

I still need to work on the sound thing but that can wait for a bit.

Also I'm having some issues in windows and I'm not sure if they're due to OS X, Ubuntu, or both. I know Ubuntu disabled my wireless card and I had to go unblock it in linux. Now however my wireless card stops working and I have to restart my computer. I'm going to try a driver/software reinstall. In addition my computer no longer goes into sleep mode on the windows side and sometimes locks up when booting windows. Do you have any insight on what might be causing those issues.

Thanks

Post your DSDT so I can look at it.

Did you do a fresh install of Windows or is this an OEM install?

Find anything in the DSDT?

It looks like "HP Envy DV6" is a match. You may also need "Fix Mutex with non-zero SyncLevel" but try without first.

That did the trick. Now I just have to get the sound working, and fix the issue of it waking immediately when it goes to sleep.
