"Select my other harddrive" with what?
You have two choices:
- install boot0md to the MBR of your SSD (boot1h and /boot would live on the OS X partition on your HDD)
Or:
- set the BIOS priority to boot from your HDD (install the entire bootloader including boot0md to the HDD)
Note: If your HDD has 4k sectors (sounds like it may), you need to do the boot0 fix:

I recommend patched AppleHDA. You need to know your codec id. Google for 'patch AppleHDA guide'. Follow the instructions to collect a codec dump from Linux.
