[Work In Progress] Lenovo Z580 ML Installation

Wow, thanks for the fast responses. This is pretty much what I figured. SO basically I need to borrow a Mac with ML and do Step 2 of UniBeast, then I will be able to use that USB on my z580?

You'll need to do step 1 and 2.

And you don't necessarily need a Mac with ML. A Mac running SL or Lion will work too, provided the Mac has the capability to run ML (because Apple will not let you purchase ML unless the computer you're using meets ML requirements).

I used a friend's MacBookPro 13" running Snow Leopard to purchase Lion first time...

Just an FYI. My Z580 i7 HD4000 OS X 10.8.4 install is working flawlessly for a few weeks now. I have been exclusively using it. I also installed Win8 as a second OS. I used a lot of this tutorial to get a lot done, and then did my own DSDT patching. But the info and tools on this thread have been instrumental to get it all working. The cam is too dark, and the card reader is not working, but everything else is. [I bought Atheros wifi card to replace the stock Intel Centrino wifi]. Z580 turned out to be a perfect Hackintosh machine!

Its an amazing machine, I got the i5.

I fixed the cam issue using the program from earlier in this thread.

How did you go about making your own dsdt?

For DSDT, I used the Chameleon Wizard DSDT tab to generate my default DSDT. And then googled DSDT patches, followed the instructions and applied a few patches from 0larila . com /forum/ patches.php (0 is actually a letter). To fix the sleep, though, I had to also delete a couple of things in DSDT - nothing a novice with a little brain can't do with the use of google.

I tried your cam issue fix but it just does not solve it for me. I tried several things. None of them worked for me. Not sure what to do.

I opted to do a full reinstall with a 10.8.4 UniBeast 2.0.1 thumb drive. I can't see how anything is different for me from before, but perhaps you can help me find it.

I am getting a AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext related kernel panic at boot time. I never got this before. I'm not sure what the culprit is. I'll have to take a closer look.

The latest MultiBeast (5.3.1) has a patched AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext under the "System" settings. I used that and everything is great now. I have functional sleep again. Still don't know what broke when I was on vacation, but it's better now.

Hi untergeek, i installed this kext but my laptop not boot. When apple screen the thing which is turning. Turning turning and not boot. Only safe mode with -x with installation USB. If i boot -x with my system it isn't booting and it is giving kernel panic

Its an amazing machine,

Agreed!..
Updated to 10.8.4.
Reinstalled audio and wireless driver provided by untergeek (Thanks :) )
Deleted ATI (not mendatory) and Nvidia kexts
Flawless..

SNAP! I wonder if that's part of the reason I had to re-install. After updating from 10.8.3 to 10.8.4, I did NOT re-delete the ATI and nVidia kexts. No matter, though. It's working well now.

I even have it joined to an OS X server domain and doing mobile users (syncing profiles, etc).

I'm not sure what to say. Have you made sure you've deleted all of the ATI and nVidia kexts after booting with -x once?
