This is a 13.3" ProBook (no optical drive!) w/ Haswell. It looks to be fairly lightweight (compared to other ProBooks) at 3.31 pounds.
From the photos, the chassis design looks a little different (some smoother edges).

Might be interesting when Haswell OS X support is widely available.

All the models shown on HP's page (I'm in the US, I suppose this varies by region) have BCM wireless:

Windows Driver page:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsuppor...Id=5379211&swLang=13&taskId=135&swEnvOID=4132

Highlights:
- some sort of IDT audio
- WiFi listed under BCM driver, shows:
Broadcom 802.11a/b/g/n
Broadcom 4313 802.11 b/g/n
Broadcom BCM943228HM4L 802.11a/b/g/n 2x2
(it appears not supported by OS X... Hopefully no whitelist for possible replacement w/ "ac" card compatible w/ OS X...)
- There is also Atheros AR9000, Ralink, Intel and Realtek WiFi listed
- Realtek PCIe based card reader (maybe same as ProBook 4xx0s)
- Ethernet is realtek

Display looks to be only 1366x768 which is a shame.

The following is probably a deal breaker (for me)

Memory slots: 1 SODIMM

The current 4340s which is probably similar, at least has 2 slots (for 16gb ram) and maybe when 32gb (2x16gb) is available.

suspect this g1 is a rebadged hp folio ultra 13. i recall it only had 1 memory slot too.

edit. in the manual it says it has 2 slots

Memory Two customer-accessible/upgradeable memory module slots supporting up to 16 GB
of RAM
Supports dual-channel memory
PC3-12800, 1600-MHz, DDR3L
Supports the following configurations:
● 16384 (8192 × 2; dual channel)
Code:
http://bizsupport2.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c03813950/c03813950.pdf

they've also changed the easy access to to ram and hard drive, instead of the 2 step , remove battery then remove panel, theyv'e gone back to an older reference design for consumer laptops.

wonder if it comes with the noisy fan batch like the 4x30s.

they could have just kept the same 4x30s/4x40s design and just updated their chipset to support the new intel haswell cpu's.

really stupid move hp.

i'd be avoiding this sly dodgy looking hp 430, and stick to 4x40s or 4x30s.

According to the service manual there are two memory slots supporting up to 16GB (if it is accurate):

● 8192 (8192 × 1)
● 8192 (4096 × 2; dual channel)
● 6144 (4096 + 2048; dual channel)
● 4096 (2048 × 2; dual channel)

This is a new breed of ProBook... one that is thinner and lighter... more ultrabook like. Certainly the traditional 4x40s ProBook will be updated to Haswell (4x50s?), but that would be more of a traditional "chunky" laptop with optical drive, etc.

I would like to see a larger (buttonless) trackpad, a higher resolution screen, and a backlit keyboard...

Hello,
Anybody know what is real battery life?

I would like to buy this notebook (with i5), but i am not sure about battery life. 44Wh isnt much.

Thanks

Depends on the battery voltage I suppose...

My new (Haswell) MacBook Air 13" shows 7408mAh (MaxCapacity) and 8.517V (8517mV), which is 63094mWh (63.094Wh). Assuming my math is correct.

I think it is too early to tell for Haswell laptops... whether or how well they will work... The only builds supporting Haswell are developer builds. And I notice this 430 G1 only comes with HD4600 instead of HD5000 in the MacBook Air. Will the drivers support HD4600?? No one knows until it is tried...

So any possible way to hackintosh it? just got one at work with win8pro. Its insane pile of shi&@ )))

Well, it is Haswell, right? So, for complete Haswell support you'll have to wait until an OS X that supports it is released.

For now you could start (without power management) here: http://www.tonymacx86.com/379-haswellhelper-enhanced-10-8-4-kernel-now-available.html
