What the 2013 Mac Pro will really look like with external accessories...

The underside of my desk already looks like the one on the right. If I had a new Mac Pro I'd probably asphyxiate under an even larger pile of cables.:lol:

I didn't mean to start any arguments, I just thought it was funny.

I am aware of that - I wasn't either ;) I just think a lot of people think that just because you have a big case, that somehow you don't need external devices and cabling - thats plainly not the real world. The new Mac Pro has come in for a lot of criticism because of its small size, mainly from people who will use a PC case for their next build - they will not be buying a New Mac Pro anyway. Why bother criticising the new Mac Pro then?

If you look at some of the builds achieved using the old G4 Cube on this very site Its amazing the level of power some of these diminutive home builds achieve. The new Mac Pro is using an updated version of the cooling system that Apple attempted to get right all those years ago, they just didn't quite get it working perfectly.

Apple innovate, improve and design to a very high level - I think we should acknowledge and celebrate that more than we actually do. Otherwise we might still be using black PC cases with floppy drives. Thankfully and largely through Apple we moved on from that some time ago.

I saw this pic a couple days ago it strikes me as something of an exaggeration.

As pointed out before, why would you have three separate externals instead of a single multi-drive case? Furthermore, why would you have both a DVD burner AND Bluray burner? The BD-R can do both. On top of all of this, Fibrechannel is superseded by Thunderbolt 2.

So in reality, this setup would have three boxes (HD enclosure, BD-R, audio/video interface) all of which could stack up neatly and maybe 3-5 cables total.

I think those are external hard drives, done up to resemble a mac pro or powermac G5 case.

They were for the old Mac Pro and iMac. as the picture clearly demonstrates.

Yes of course they were built for the older Mac Pro, but the reasoning behind the image was using them due to having absolutely no way to fit any other drives in the newer design.

I have seen those Silver boxes with the G on a few times, what are they?

They are hard drives made by G drive.

Don't buy G Drive - they're crap, they fail

Anyway, image has a point but a lot of those devices are external anyway, like the Apogee. sort of defeats the purpose.
