Article: OS X 10.8.3 Update

Am I the only one that's having problems with USB3? If I use the caldigit drivers, I get a full system freeze when logging out and then back in, and intermittenly on boot (but only if I have a usb3 drive plugged into the 3.0 ports). If I use the Lacie drivers, my ports are not detected at all.

10.8.3 update is not working for me (GA-Q77M-D2H + 3570 i5 + 16MB + 9600 GT). The apple grey screen stays forever. When I boot verbose, it seem to be waiting for USB devices forever (i had all of my devices disconnected but keyboard & mouse). It might have something to do with power management, but not so sure. I will have to stick with 10.8.1 for the moment. Any one with similar issues or an idea on how to solve this?

Best... Oren

Finally they fixed the stupid bug in the photo screensaver, which now also presents photos in subfolders...great!

This still works, the trick is to set the 'init graphics first' to igfx instead of auto or peg.

…… Unfortunately I have only one monitor.
So this method is hard for me.

Update went smoothly. Went with the combo update, but probably could have gone through the app store. Z77X-UP5-TH, GTX 670, updated CUDA (though I don't know if I even use it with my system) before updating via combo, tried to patch audio and TRIM before restarting and the system hung after patch was successful. Restarted and update said restart was needed, so restarted again. No further issue. Groths server was busy, so I patched TRIM through the terminal via http://digitaldj.net/2011/07/21/trim-enabler-for-lion/. Everything is working smoothly. Not sure what the big advantages to the update are other than to be updated.

My build is not work.
i5-3570k + GA Z77-DS3H 1.0 + Sapphire HD5850 Extreme + HD4000
The only monitor is connected to HD5850, HD4000 here is only for airplay mirror.

The error is :

Debugger called: </SourceCache/GraphicsDrivers/GraphicsDrivers-8.10.44/Common/IONDRV/Intel/IVB/AppleIntelFrameBuffer/AppleINtelController.cpp:12351 Assertion failed: (0 == i) || ((pfbInfo->rangeStolen.phyBase - pfbInfoPrev->rangeSt"

I had the same error with a 660 TI, also using 1 monitor. The 2 options I have found are to turn off the HD4000 and don't have AirPlay or set it on igfx and don't have a bootscreen. I hope someone finds a solution to this or it gets fixed in an update.

Strange it also happens to a ati card, I thought it had something to do with graphicsenabler=no for the nvidia 600-series.

I don't plug anything into igfx, and just have both monitors on my 5770... When the login screen come up I have video. So the POST and boot loader are not seen. I actually like it better this way. Than if you have a problem and need to see BIOS or bootloader just plug the monitor into igfx port.

Plus I rarely turn the computer off too so it doesn't make much of difference

Has anyone been able to get AirPlay to actually work? The icon goes blue for me but there is a long spinning beach ball cursor before it does. Then no actual mirrored video shows up on the Apple TV. If I look in Console there are lots of coreaudiod errors. Given audio drivers were updated in 10.8.3 and the ones in Multibeast are patched 10.8.2 ones, I guess we have to wait for the audio drivers to be updated before some of these cards will work? I'm using ALC 892 with a Gigabyte UP5-TH motherboard.
