honestly I am shocked to not be able to push over 10000. Im not sure what a good score is but I thought I had decent equipment over here . I mean a 1000$ processor and I cant even break 10000? Im annoyed now loll

My i7-980x at stock speeds puts me in the 14,000s moderately over clocked scores jump above 16,000, all processor power management and throttling is still enabled.
My i5-3570K at stock speeds puts me in the upper 9,000s, I have it moderately overclocked and my scores jump above 11,000, all processor power management and throttling is also still enabled.

Check my sig for the details

ok so what the hell is wrong w machine?

are you overclocked or running normally? I have an extreme edition i7 965 ... what am I doing wrong? do you know what the bios settings are to over clock? any info would help greatly. thanks bud..

Since that you are having 965EE. I think you can easily reach 4GHZ as my 920 default clock at 2.6Ghz and I can go up to 4Ghz but my settle for 3.6Ghz which is enough for my daily Photoshop works.

ok i got it overclocked to 3.86 on first try

system seams stable so lets see what happens now....

ok so i got my speed to 3.86

and i scored a 2200? lmfaoooo what the hell?

Im probably doing not much different than you, On the 980x I'm running around 3.6GHz but im Overclcked in BIOSto 4.2Ghz using cpu level up timings. The voltages for cpu, dram and qpi had to be slightly tweaked to squeeze a few 200mHz or more from the extreme cpu levl up profile. Like we all know, the higher your stable clock speed the better your bench scores will be. I can push it easy further since its on water but I would have to sacrifice the power management features.

I also kept memory timings to the x.m.s. profile specs since its already fast femory i dont really feel the need to deal w the extra hassle.

default throttling options that are automatically enabled become disabled when you select a CPU level up profile in bios, but if you still want the benefits of power management , all the C1E, turbo boost, and other power saving features that are enabled by default have to be re-enabled.

and i scored a 2200? lmfaoooo what the hell?

LOL!

Honestly all I did was use the factory tweak settings

In my bios it had 2 options (3.86 and 4.02) . All I did was set it to 4.02 then I increased the Block to 156 and its giving me 4.22 ghz on stock air cooling !!!! Oddly though its only reading add 3.91 which is fantastic none the less. The system seems stable and faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaast !!!!! Wonder why my scores are so low ? Anyway how do you like that 980x? its supposed to be one helluva chip !!! I bought my EE last year and it was the best decision Ive ever made!!!! Nothing like being in the Extreme Edition family of processors ... These things are F#$%^% faaaaaaaaaaaaast !!!!!
heres a snap shot of my info....

Hmm, you should have much higher scores at 4.02. Can you link your profile page for geekbench like in my sig... also, is your memory stable? since you have win 7 installed, boot into windows and run OCCT to test stability. I will try and take a couple of photos of my Bios screen and post them at some point this weekend but in the meantime i'd like to see what some of the other top geekbench scores are for your processor.

Oh and although my socket 1366 board is starting to show it's age, the 980x has been such an amazing processor that I just can't see myself getting rid of it at any point soon. It's so fast it's unbelievable. Not sure if i'd drop a grand on another processor in the future though.. that was a hell of a lot of cash.. haha.

Hey, I'm trying a very similar build to yours, which I have Lion running on. When I reboot and select my USB, the screen goes black for a minute, there's a flash on the screen, and the system reboots.

I've tried the PCIRootUID=0, GraphicsEnabler=No, -v, and -x options as stated in the TonyMacx86 guide.

What to do now? :p
