Ventura on Ivy Bridge

one year of possible updates (estimating that sonoma could be the last intel macOS) worth it.
I think the next macOS will be the last one with Intel support. If that happens, macOS 15 will get Apple security updates for about 3 years so that's not bad either relative to the small investment.

now all we need is a step by step for us dummies
Hi!
maybe the following will help:
step1
To get a efi which could run macOS 12.x.x successfully.

Step2:download and add CryptexFixup.kext to config.plist and kexts folder

Step3:add "-amd_no_dgpu_accel -cryptbeta amfi=0x80 ipc_control_port_options=0 amfi_get_out_of_my_way=1" to boot-args in the config.plist
Part Misc-Security DmgLoading "any", SecureBootModel "Disabled"
Part NVRAM csr-active-config = 03080000

Step4:Boot with macOS installer 14(13)
Open a new terminal to disable SIP
csrutil status ; csrutil disable
csrutil authenticated-root disable
reboot

Step5:Boot with macOS install 14(13) and install macOS 14(13), Post Install Root Patch in Sonoma(Ventura)
Step6:remove -amd_no_dgpu_accel from boot-args then reboot macOS, roll back Part Misc-Security DmgLoading "Signed", SecureBootModel "Default"
Step7:reboot into new Ventura with hardware acceleration.

try it. Thank you.

Microsoft's past history suggests it will even get Win12 support. So at least 8-10 years of security updates. Not bad for the small investment.
at this point a 10400f, an asus prime z590M-PLUS and 32gb DDR4 cost 352 euro new . And if i exclude the VAT ... :)
Searching for the best chipset on 1200 and i am going for an order.
Taking in account what you said plus a very easy upgrade to a i7 or i9 used after 2 years seems by far the best deal.
I really love the X79, i ve been tinkering from 2016 but i believe it is about time to move on.
cheers for all useful input!

Hi,

when trying this and other guides, I can install Ventura to my machine. It will boot and say
"Hello" but will not start setup and then, after a while, it will freeze.

I should maybe mention that I re-enabled ACPI Powermanagement according to this guide.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Karlson..

Does it work if Enabled of SSDT-PM-SANDYBR.aml is set to NO?
Do, unfortunately it doesn't. I did not re-install though, just re-booting the installed Ventura.

Did everyone here try a fresh install or did you upgrade something existing? Because I am stuck in
the setup of a new system.

BR,
Karlson.

It works even without PowerManagement during installation.
Please refer to the attached EFI when successfully installing OC 0.9.3 to this post.
Here is the guide you should read.

Thanks Austral, I will give it a try!

I also think it is related to power management. I have now 1st installed a clean Monterey Installation
before I installed Ventura on top of it. By the way: which Ventura to use? Latest?

Thanks a lot for the links. In fact I was following the Ivy older brother version, did not know there is
one for Sandy as well.

Anyway, when doing this, it will freeze after a while showing the login screen. So maybe just at the
moment where it wants to manage the CPU core frequencies.

So let's see what will happen when I completely disable all these PM stuff. The SSDT is also used as
I overclock. Maybe I should get rid of these as well, right?

Thanks,
Karlson.

If it works with SSDT-PM-SANDYBR.aml disabled, I think it would be better to recreate it with HighSierra.
If you can create it using the instructions, the maximum frequency should be set to 3.8GHz.
(For HP8200, it could only be created with ssdtPRGen.sh verson 17.0)

Before using OCLP, you can boot from USB, so please try it.

The next try needs to wait for next week. Too much family business over the weekend. While you said that, I think I created SSDT-PM-SANDYBR.aml with High Sierra.

Will read the guide and do a fresh restart and keep you up to date. Kind of strange the install runs flawless wirh an EFI but the system does not wirh the same. Unfortunately also I see no logs or error messages.

We will see. Have a nice weekend!
