The Gigabyte Z590 was a let down.I'm soooo tempted to get this board... but i really really need to convince myself that my Golden (CaseySJ's Golden) Z390 Designare hack is still very much functional and still delivers for the task at hand. With that said,I'm praying that it will suddenly "die" so i can get this instead!
It has two front panel USB 3 headers (supports four USB 3.x Type A ports) and three USB 2.0 headers. Looks like a solid choice, but not sure about the BIOS (whether Thunderbolt hot plug will work at all in macOS).

Yeah I agree. However, Alder Lake 12700K for example is available for lower prices (this time period after launch) compared to prior generations. I remember when the 10700k was around $449 or so. Similar with the 11700k. The 12700k was available for less than 340 at microcenter. Less money more performance.I don't think the Z690 mobo prices are justified at the moment. They are just taking advantage of the current situation. I mean it's double the price for a 10-13% performance increase?

I wasn't expecting to create a DDR5-based build until later in the year, but over the holidays MicroCenter had the i7-12700K in the full retail package for $299 so I grabbed one!
