Z690 Chipset Motherboards and Alder Lake CPU

Background performance study of what Apple is doing with its split P/E core architecture,

I offer this as fodder for discussion of the implications of Apple's move towards its own silicon, and submit that there will not be future performance parity of any hackintosh to Apple kit. The gap is already here and will substantially widen with new Mac introductions:

Of course. I don't care about energy efficiency. The machine is to work. How much would I have to spend now for a Mac that would allow Logic Pro to pull 350 audio tracks?

I pulled the trigger and I should have all the parts within 10 days or so.
Thank you for the quick response and future help! Is there a reason to get a Wi-Fi card? I plan on using this computer with wired internet at all times. Also, what are some use cases for Thunderbolt?
Oh, the processor I ordered is the 12900kf since I’ll always have a discreet gpu, will your SSDTs need any modifications to accommodate this?
I answered you, but the admins deleted my post. Don't know why! Anyway, keep me posted about your hardware acquisition. After, I'll build your EFI and you'll have a nice piece of Hack.

Benchmark with all 3 situation. Left without CpuTopologySync.kext, middle with CpuTopologySync.kext, right with CpuTopologySync.kext and -ctssmt.
Until new findings I will stay without.
How do you get clocked DDR5 memory?

Since with High Sierra I do not have support for ProvideCurrentCpuInfo, and a 12900K runs pretty toasty without E cores, I gave your kext a try to see if this helps in my 8 P + 8 E (no HT) setup.

While I am uncertain what is expected in this configuration, I am seeing a substantial improvement.

I really wish I had the skills to investigate expanding the ProvideCurrentCpuInfo kernel patch to the High Sierra kernel, if it is even possible.
How did you manage to run such a low system? Can you share your EFI? I would be happy if I could go Mojave because I have some 32 bit applications.

How do you get clocked DDR5 memory?
I use highest preset Micron default settings. Mine DDR5 is XMP max 5200, but I use 5400. 200 Mhz overclock. Very stabile!

Restored. Please keep your posts in English. TIA.

Hii to all ,i am first time want to build hak
I have z690 ud DDR 4 ,12900k and gpu amd 5500rx can some sher with efi i try all but not work
Thanks

Just thought to mention this to anyone interested.

With the success of the Z690 Alder Lake running Photoshop and Adobe apps far quicker and smoother than I expected, I have decided to replace my current B550 Vision D build with it (despite it being a very quick and competent machine). For me Intel software compatibility and system stability means a lot especially when its used for work and such. The Ryzen was giving me a handful of problems recently (needing the AMD Adobe fixes every so often on newer builds of Adobe apps) which is why I have decided to go with the Z690 instead.
Do Adobe apps work with all cores and all threads enabled and AVX-512 disabled? I thought Adobe Apps in Mac OS had issues without AVX-512?

I may have some good news, but I'll let you judge...

I downloaded a free music video library from Elements of Film, and stitched a very basic 31-minute video. You can see that in 2nd screenshot above.

Rendered on:
  • Intel i5-12600K with all cores and all threads enabled
  • Gigabyte Z690 Aero G
  • MSI Radeon RX 6800 XT GPU
  • 2x16GB 3600MHz CL16 memory
Render times:
  • HEVC --> About 3 minutes and 30 seconds. (31 minute video)

  • H.264 --> About 3 minutes. (31 minute video)

  • File Sizes (HEVC version is of course considerably smaller in size):

Would you be willing to share the working document /files with us? Might be a good idea to have everyone test out your project and compare render times....

Or maybe we could setup a standard Handbrake compression test for us and compare times? Ie; one of the Handbrake Presets to compress Big Buck Bunny @ 1080p Perhaps this could be best suited for a separate thread.

Hey guys, I've managed to install Monterey 12.1 on my Gigabyte Z690 Gaming X (DDR 4 one) with i7-12700K. However, since I have BIOS F6 version installed, I discovered weird noise coming out from CPU sector on motherboard. I've found information in Internet that disabling CPU C1E State (Enhanced Halt State) can help. I've changed this setting in BIOS. In Windows and the BIOS itself this weird noise does not occur anymore. But... in hackintosh it is still beeping :D

Any idea how to fix this?
