Gigabyte Z490 Vision D (Thunderbolt 3) + i5-10400 + AMD RX 580

An external (relocatable) antenna can improve the Fenvi's speed. For particularly large transfers, a wired Ethernet connection is preferable.

An external (relocatable) antenna
Do you have a suggestion for this? I am going to try the Wifi Card that I had in the previous build.

Thank you for volunteering! :)
@CaseySJ Thanks for all your support.

I am on Catalina and I did the following:
  1. Applied the Aquantia hack for Big Sur but that didn't make any difference. I left the hack in there and Wifi only works when I use Disabled for SecureBootModel. Bluetooth continues to work with both the values
  2. I tried the 1.2.0 alpha drivers but those didn't make a difference either. I am not sure if I did the right thing - I just need to replace the two kexts, right? I made sure that I used the right name for AirportItlwm-Catalina
What else can I do to debug this issue? For me, it's not a big deal as I don't use Wifi anyways, I'm just curious and want to learn.

@CaseySJ I thought all was working well. System will not stay asleep. It wakes immediately after sleep. It did before I migrated from the previous system.

Yes it's very possible. We're seeing too many sleep, wake, boot issues with these cards. I would recommend switching to the YOUBO.
@CaseySJ I removed the Fenvi card and continued to have no sleep. So Fenvi not the problem.

Thanks for testing. This ought to be reported to the OpenIntelWireless team on their GitHub site.

We should not use Migration Assistant because it copies kernel extensions and other legacy files. It would be good to either follow the Sleep Aid (please see Quick Reference spoiler at the top of the Z390 Designare build guide -- "Troubleshooting" section) or restore from the bootable backup and manually transfer files and applications from the previous system.

@CaseySJ Yes, that was what I was thinking about migration assistant being the problem. I was about to write that I am starting from the beginning, when I read your response. There are too many software and hardware problems and this led me to believe, this morning, at about 1 am, that a fresh install (from the back-up drive that was simply the base Apple apps) when all worked. The only thing(s) that I did not test were the two internal USB2 headers. The one on the left works but the one on the right does not. I always tell my wife, do not use Migration Assistant. I was too impatient to get back to work...

@CaseySJ Good day Sir, Do you have information identifying which of the four antennas on our Fenvi are allocated for Bluetooth?

The reason I am inquiring, we have a dedicated machine room at our facility in which houses our systems. I wish to extend, thereby relocating the Bluetooth antennas.

Tony.

P.S. We have acquired all components surrounding B550 D. In a holding pattern awaiting availability of 5950x.

Hello @tonben,

There should be an icon next to each antenna port either on the front or back side of the card. Typically Bluetooth antenna is one of the middle two (typically the 2nd from the bottom).

Regarding B550, please have a look at the last page of the B550 build thread. @xtreem.p is having some difficulty getting the UAD Apollo to connect on boot. A hot plug makes it work. Flashing the firmware may be something to try.
