I tried this last week, but with this method it is necessary to launch Adobe apps from the Terminal command line.@CaseySJ
I am not sure if this works. But for just environment variable, try this without Automator.
In Terminal:
sudo nano ~/.bash_profile
add this line to the above file:
export MKL_DEBUG_CPU_TYPE=2
^O to save it
^X to exit
Let's see if Photoshop can start or not...
