So Opencore is the only way forward?
For the time being yes.So Opencore is the only forward?
Slice is working on Clover Fixes but he seems to be alone. There are people using clover to boot but it doesn’t work to install yet. So you may as well get used to open core as it’s what all the new Kexts are being built for.So Opencore is the only way forward?
Some steps has already been made and some fine examples at that. At the moment not as extensive a choice as Clover but I dare say in time there will be.I took the plunge on migrating to OpenCore from Clover. It takes a fair amount of work, but I was able to install Big Sur on its own APFS container and boot into it without much issue as well as boot into Catalina and Windows installs on existing partitions.
Hopefully in time, GUI tooling for OC will become available and be as good as what is available for Clover.
There is a certain irony to this GUI tooling in OC. OC started as a “lean non-bloated” bootloader. It seems to be evolving into Clover2.Some steps has already been made and some fine examples at that. At the moment not as extensive a choice as Clover but I dare say in time there will be.
I agree totally, but to be fair OC is still offered up in it's original format to the purist. The choice of transformation, not 100% supported by the Devs, came about by people spoilt by the many cloaks of Clover who wanted the same eye candy oppose to plain old white text on a black background for a Boot Menu, albeit viewed only for a few seconds, felt more Clovertised (if such a descriptive word exists). There is a certain irony to this GUI tooling in OC. Hi,Those having difficulty in booting USB installation via Latest official OpenCore 0.6.0 or with nightly 0.6.1 make sure you have correct USBX-EC-SSDT.aml in ACPI folder and USBInjectAll.kext and USBPort Limit quirk enabled under Kernel section of config.plist. If you cannot create your own USBX-EC-SSDT.aml, search for your chipset eg. Z490 hackintosh github and use their premade EC ssdt . This is the No. 1 problem of non-bootable installation media.
I have installed Big Sur via USB on X299, Z170, Z370, Z490 without any issues so far.
Make sure you use hackintool to generate USBPorts.kext according to your port map and use it instead of USBInjectAll.kext and USBX-EC-SSDT.aml.
Hi,Hi,
I have a problem in the middle of the installation with the update volume. Could you send me the config.plist the Z170 or the efi?
thanks in advance
