Gigabyte Z390 M Gaming build with working NVRAM

Hi

As outlined previously I have bought the following components:

CPU: 9600K
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB DDR4 3200
Cooler: Noctua NH-D15
Storage: WD Black 500GB SN750 NVMe SSD
PSU: Be Quiet! Pure Power 11 CM 400w Power Supply
Graphics Card:Asus Nvidia GeFOrce GT730 1GB DDR3 (Kepler)

Everything is working well in terms of posting and I have upgraded the BIOS to F9K and made recommended BIOS changes. I built a Mojave Install USB using Unibeast but I only managed to get to the point of being able to format and install Mojave on my NVme drive once after which the install failed. Since then I've tried numerous times and moved on to Catalina using this exact guide from post #1 and installing the Clover EFI attached to that post. it has failed after launching "Install Catalina" option from the USB drive option from Clover. I've turned on Verbose mode. I've unsintalled my graphics card and used internal graphics but the same failure happened.

I've given up with this guide for now and going to TonyMac Catalina installation guide using Unibeast to see if that works.

I have a few questions:
- Could my graphics card be the problem? Be it internal or the GT730
- Did upgrading to BIOS F9K somehow cause problems such that I can't install OSX. Should I have upgraded the BIOS AFTER installing OSX?
- I am computer graduate who came top in my university year. Surely this should be reasonably easy fro me even if I know little about Mackintoshes. I'm wondering if it's possible that there is a duff component that will simply cause the same problem disallowing installation. Should I remove on RAM stick

After my next round to attempts I'll start posting screen shots in verbose mode

Thanks
Mr. Frustrated from London

I have no experience with GT 730. I remember reading of others with issues but that was a long time ago and on different motherboards...

If you install using just IGPU and the GT 730 pulled, make sure you use the config.plist from post #4.

Asus XG-C100C 10G Network Adaptor works great on my hacktoish with no driver needed, but I found out this card does not support wol, that's bad.

Just power up your system with the built-in ethernet...

Thanks. I seem to be getting there...

@pastrychef , I am using Opencore 0.5.9 and the 3 monitors are working normally, but when I use version 0.6.0, it only recognizes one screen.
I'm using Boot Args: "alcid = 20 -lilubetaall debug = 0x100 keepsyms = 1 -wegbeta -no_compat_check slide = 0 -vsmcbeta agdpmod = pikera"

Make sure WhateverGreen is enabled in config.plist > Root > Kernel > Add.

There only one lan port in my room, so sad. Trying to update firmware of asus c100c, Aquantia AQC107 chip support WOL, don't know why asus ban it...

I managed to install Catalina but the Ethernet controller wasn't working. After a few failed attempts using MultiBeast to get it working I decided to use PastryChef's latest Clover EFI instead of that made by MultBeast. Am I right in thinking the drivers (kexts) are all made available to the OS from there? Unfortunately that rendered my machine unable to boot. I'm currently reinstalling Catalina but have no idea how to get my Ethernet controller working.

Finally how do I fill SMBIOS and where do I retrieve the info regarding my machine?

Thanks for the support. I have to say this is pretty tough.

Don't mix 'n match different install methods. It will probably cause you more problems than help.

If you are installing with GT 730, the EFI in post #1 should work unless there are compatibility issues with the GT 730.
If you are installing with IGPU only and you are installing Catalina 10.15.0-10.15.4, use the EFI from post #1 and replace the config.plist with the one from post #4.
If you are installing with IGPU only and you are installing Catalina 10.15.5-10.15.6, change ig-platform-id to 3E9B0000.

Everything should work including ethernet.
