pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

Using this. On it! Utilising 1314.

Just saying, M.2_1 is an NVMe SSD, M.2_2 is empty.

Do you have any recommendations for good thermals in the Vega 56? Keeps idling at high 60 - 76 ish

Please try replacing your USBPorts.kext with this one and reboot.

Try using VGTab to change the fan behavior of your Vega. I think I set my target temp to 55C.

Will finish the SN stuff soon. Concern now is my processor. I'll just have to follow https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...900k-amd-vega-56.239969/page-622#post-1947765 right? In order to rename that. I just want to dish it out properly.

Once these are complete, i'll head off to OC. Can't wait.

Catalina should be able to identify the i9-9900K fine. I don't know why it's not identifying yours...

It's strictly cosmetic and doesn't affect performance or compatibility. In Clover, you can set CPU type to 0x1005 to force About This Mac to ID it as a 9900K, but I've never tried doing this on OpenCore.

Clearly aware its cosmetic. Thus i want to do that last. It's because its an ES.

Ah. Yes, macOS won't ID engineering samples.

Have you overclocked the CPU? What speeds have you gotten it to run at?

4.8, Haven't tried going up. Will share some stuff here soon.

USBPorts.kext u gave didn't work.. hmmm.. Why not tell me what logs u need I'll work on it? Or any screenshot on hackintool, etc.

Processor detected as an 8th gen (Its definitely a 9900K ES, checked its details on windows previously)
2 weird ??? AMD things..

Let me know what details you require!

4.8GHz is not bad!

IORegistryExplorer, etc won't show the USB port if it's disabled. We just have to trial-and-error until we get the right port enabled. Please try attached USBPorts.kext.

Yeah, those two "???" entries are from your Vega. It happens on my Radeon VII too. AMD does some weird stuff with PCI-e bridges on their cards.

Negative regarding the kext.

I see. Guess just gonna leave it there then.
I've forgotten how I can generate a USBPorts.kext on my own..

EDIT

By the way, my USB 3.0 ports on my casing are SS03 and SS04.

Please try this one.

If you right-click on the USBPorts.kext and "show package contents", then navigate to USBPorts.kext > Contents, you can open the info.plist.

Go to Info.plist > Root > iMacPro1,1-XHC-8086_a2af > IOProviderMergeProperties > Ports, you can edit HS13.
The internal USB2 headers use HS11-HS14.
USB1314 should be HS13 and HS14.
Most PCI-e adaptors use the even numbered port so I tried HS14 first and it didn't work for you...
