Asus X99 - Catalina Support

Status
Not open for further replies.
BIOS settings are the optimized defaults with Virtual tech enabled. I just built a fresh UEFI from Multibeast for Mac Pro late 2013. KEXTs are AHCI_3rdParty_SATA, IntelMausiEthernet, Lilu, RealtekRTL8111, SMC*, WhateverGreen.

So you are not on X99 then.

There may be a similarity in the symptoms. I haven't gone to Catalina yet, because I use 32-bit stuff sometimes. But on X99, it seems pretty well established, including by @seevolas, that moving to Open Core for Catalina is the way to go. The boot loaders do initializations that we rely on for XCPM and having the correct package states and all that. I think whatever the specific issue is, here, it's probably not the same as what's happening with your Ivy Bridge.

I rely on this post for reminders on some of this power management stuff, at least as it applies to Clover: https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/macos-native-cpu-igpu-power-management.222982/

Using shantonu's EFI.

Thoughts on why I can't get the Clover installer to go?? Thanks

This is my last working clover EFI folder for 10.15.4 before moving to OpenCore.

I already changed Cpu Type to 0x0706 which is the right one for your profile declared CPU.

Added 0x040674 as fake CPUID in Kernel and Kext patches

I also generated new system serials and definition. If you care about security feel free to change it again using clover configurator.

Since I don´t know if your bios is patched or not, I checked KernelPM on Kext to patch, clover configuration tab.

I also added adgpmod=pikera and -xcpm flags on the boot arguments tab. I have no idea if you need it or nor for your machine.

Also. On EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/patched you will find my patched SSDT-EC.aml and SSDT-PLUG.aml. I´m pretty sure that should not work on your machine. Anyway... Try. If it works, then great. If not, drop and patch your own SSDT´s
Excellent guide for DSDT patching: https://dortania.github.io/Getting-Started-With-ACPI/

Good luck and let us know if it works.

Hi all!

First attempt at a hackintosh... I was following the beginner's Catalina install guide. My computer specs are:

MOBO: ASUS X99-A-II
CPU: i7-6800K
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 480

... So far I have:

1. Downloaded Mac OS Catalina
2. Created a bootable USB using Unibeast
3. Configured BIOS settings (followed someone else's guide on youtube for X99 MOBO...)

Then, I boot from my USB. I get the apple logo but no progress bar. See attached for verbose screenshot.

I am a noob for sure.. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @azxy78

Hello, I'm a new person. Can I successfully install the dual e2690 V3 and supermicro x10dri? If it's convenient, can you give me a tutorial? Thank you very much.

This thread is for Asus X99 support, which is a continuation of kgp X99 Mojave Guide. I managed to get Catalina Beta working on a Asus Sabertooth X99, but with some issues. PCI devices, especially the Wifi adapter which converts an Apple Wifi to PCIe (Broadcom BCM43xx) currently does not work. I am investigating this, but if someone can make it work, reply in this thread. Sidecar does not work either.

Wifi fixed with AirportBrcmFixup, BrcmFirmwareRepo.kext and BrcmPatchRAM2.kext. Not sure why these are required despite being an official Apple wifi card. It must be specific to the converter adapter I am using.

The changes I made as follows
  • Added Innie.kext so nvme drives are detected as internal
  • Updated Clover to build 5033
  • Updated Lilu, Whatevergreen, AppleALC to latest versions
  • Enabled E0 -> EC ACPI patch and added SSDT-EC.dsl so Catalina can boot
The EFI folder can boot Mojave as well if you plan to dual boot.
Remember to update your system specs and upload a copy of your EFI folder, BIOS settings, and a copy of your IOREG in order to receive support

Omg, I have been trying to get my configuration (Strix X99, i7 5820k, Rx 580) to work for days and with your configuration it worked immediately!!! Thank you

Modified EFI folder for X99-A. Hallowe.
Note:
For your build you need to generate your own SSDT´s.
Mine are in the acpi folder but you need to compile yours for your machine.
follow this guide: https://dortania.github.io/Getting-Started-With-ACPI/

After that, you have to configure config.plist for your machine.
Follow this guide https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Desktop-Guide/

I left Kernel/emulate blanc for you to to chose the right one for your cpu (E5 2675v3 which I can not find in intel arc)

If everything works and you manage to install Catalina, Your next job is to configure Platforminfo and map your usb ports. But that is another adventure :D.

Have fun and let us all know.
Hi @seevolas ,
I have just installed a new NVME drive for the new Catalina installation, I have based on your EFI files to build my config.plist and I also append the kernel/emulate CPUid as well as SMBIOS info.

Now, when I try to boot the USB drive, it stop at the "PCI Configuration Begin". Do you have any advice how to get over on it?

Thanks,
