Hello everyone,

I'm so glad there is this helpful community for beginner builders like myself. I am a life time Mac user but really want to build my first Hackintosh rather than spending the world on my first new computer in 7 years.

I have put together this build spec with the idea that I would be dual running Windows on one NVMe drive and macOS Catalina on the other NVMe. The other SATA SSD and 7200 HDD would serve as FAT32 drives that bridged both systems so I could easily work with files on both.

The computer is mainly going to be used for music production and I will be using an Apogee Duet as the audio interface which is connected via USB.

Spec

CPU: Intel Core i9-9900K 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor
Cooler: Thermaltake CLP0534 22.35 CFM CPU Cooler
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z390 AORUS PRO WIFI ATX LGA1151
Memory - Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-2400 Memory
Storage: 2 x Samsung 970 Evo 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive
1 x Samsung 860 Evo 2 TB 2.5" Solid State Drive
1 x Seagate Barracuda Compute 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon RX 580 8 GB PULSE
Case: be quiet! Dark Base 700 ATX Mid Tower Case
Power: Corsair RMx 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply

I would really appreciate it if anyone could just let me know if they think this build will be stable in it's current form before I pull the trigger and buy it all.

Thanks in advance.

From what I understand from several problem posts the CNVi Wifi on the Gigabyte Z390 boards cannot be replaced with a Mac OS compatible WiFi card. If you want/need WiFI you will have to use one of your PCIe slots.
The Samsung 970 EVO NVMe drives were problematic last I heard. I have been using the 970 Pro version in my builds.

You might take a look at CaseySJ Golden Build using the Designare for a comparison

Not sure if you are aware but there are some beta drivers for both intel wifi/bt and intel CNVI wifi/bt that are being ported from the linux driver. I have not personally tested or used it since I pulled my wifi/bt card from the bored and it would be a pain to put it back in. However, there is a micro guide for this driver on CaseySJ build page.

Thanks very much for the replies guys!

I've tried looking through the forum to get answers first but I am feeling my lack of knowledge coming through quite heavily...

The area that I know the least about is the motherboard and so I picked that one just off a recommendation from a friend. Would you be able to possibly recommend something similar that I would have an easier time configuring to work with wifi/bluetooth on mac os?

In regards to the 970 EVO NVMe drives I gathered with an updated firmware done on Windows they were working ok now...
