Hi all
Has anybody had a successful build using a Scythe Ninja 5 cpu cooler?
I’m thinking of changing my Corsair H60 with something much less noisy as I’m recording voiceovers near the actual computer. No idea if this one is compatible or if any of you have had good results with it. If any of you have any thoughts or have explored other types please share.
thanks.

Hi, I bought a passive cooler https://www.arctic.ac/eu_en/alpine-am4-passive.html and it is perfect for me. No noise and for 99% of the time it is sufficient. When video converting I have to put the case fans to max. When buying I was unsure about the performance, but for 12€ it was not a big investment. I have a i5-4690K and enjoy a near silence when working at the computer.

Can you record them not actually near the computer? That would be a far better choice.

Arctic says it's socket AM4 only. How did you install the cooler ?

For your 3770K you'd be better off with the lower cost Mugen 5. It's only about $49 at Amazon. Good enough to cool a non-overclocked 9900K CPU so it will work for your 3770K. Read some of the AMZ reviews.

I have a huge Noctua (NH-D15) & Fractal Design R5 case. I can record voice/guitar/whathaveyou right next to my hack using expensive condenser mics. Computer generated noise is not an issue.

As long as you have a 120mm-capable heatsink with four or more heat-pipes, just fit a Noctua 4-pin fan such as the NF-P12. In my experience they may look ugly but are near silent in normal operation. Even stressing the CPU doesn't create much in the way of noise:

The Scythe Ninja 5 looks impressive but I'm guessing it covers a lot of motherboard real-estate. I also don't trust twin-fan designs, but that's just me...

(Given your i7-3770K)

:)
