[Guide] Intel Framebuffer patching using WhateverGreen

Hey, everybody.
After the changes are made, the system loads with the correct adapter and working accelerations, but the desktop is larger than the physical resolution of the screen. This means that on the screen I only see the central part of the desktop, I don't see the top menu, half of the bottom panel and all the elements larger than usual.
Tell me what can affect the screen so much.

When an adapter is detected by mistake (7mb), the resolution corresponds to the screen and I can see the full desktop

Are you still required to have intel integrated graphics? On my Asus G750JX laptop Asus has disabled it, no settings to re-enable it and only have discreet graphics GTX770m full native support. I read from a previous post Discreet Graphics has been depreciated and a link to this thread but I am unsure if Airplay will work with discreet or not and if so I have to use the Device of the Discreet GFX correct?

@osxfr33k,

If the IGPU is disabled and the laptop only has discreet graphics then there is not much you can do, all Apple laptops are either IGPU only or switchable IGPU + discreet GPU. Therefore if you use a MacBook, MackBook Pro or MacBook Air SMBIOS it will assume the IGPU is available for background GPU compute tasks such as IQS which used for many things in MacOS including Airplay.

You can use the NoVPAJpeg kext to work around the lack of a IGPU for Finders quick look feature :-

There are some old install guides for installing older versions OSX on your laptop however in order to get the GPU working with hardware acceleration it seems to be necessary to use a desktop SMBIOS rather than a laptop .. as such power management will probably be heavily compromised.

See this link for more info :-

I doubt you'll get much support on it as its a pretty niche configuration.

Cheers
Jay

Yep I know about that thread but it’s basically its me that has kept up and supported updates all the way up to Mojave on this laptop on the Asus gamers forum under a similar name. I know early on I used iMac14,2 and I still had a acceleration and good CPU/GPU power management up through EL Capitan. Now I am on Catalina running smooth as butter my GTX770m still natively supported very happy with this laptop. I am currently using a MacBook Pro smbios profile since Sierra. I also must have this EFI string in properties in order to get all the additional features of the display as in a real MacBook Pro. With out this EFI string it kernel panics in Catalina not sure if it did in Mojave because never ran it without in Mojave. I removed the EFI string in Catalina to see if that would help in any way according to the first thread as far as prerequisites, this is when I noted the kernel panic. I also still need AppleBrightnessFixup not sure why but without it LCD brightness is broken. I still get the Apple animation inc/dec but without change in brightness. WEG does not seem to fully support all the features for a nvidia dsicreet only laptop that has intel GTX disabled and discreet only enabled therefore I still also need GFX0 to IGPU renamein clover along with a nvidia only SSDT for etc.

I actually have to use noVPAJpeg to allow for jpeg preview to work, I’ll read up on the other features it may provide.

Thanks!

@osxfr33k,

Fair play buddy .. sounds like your well on top of thing's with regards to that laptop.
I've read post's from other users reporting that WEG does not fully support mobile Nvidia GPU's.

I guess you are in the hands of Apple's drivers as I don't think Nvidia's WebDrivers support mobile GPU's ?

Cheers

I posted here, HD2500 worked with the following settings.

AAPL,ig-platform-id = 0x0166000A
device-id = 0x1061
Edit : device-id = 0x0161
It works with the posted CODE.

Does CI/QE, DSV and Airplay work also?
I don't understand the meaning of the question.

Does “VDA Decoder” become “Fully Supported” in Hackintool? If it ’s a question, it ’s not.
You can only output the screen without a graphic board.

Append:
I don't know if it is possible because I haven't done the test with the graphic board in.

I read the post, please do not throw it out as instructions continue.

Alright. What SMBios did you use? Also did you use WEG? How did you accomplish CPU Power management?
