Problem when IGPU is activated

Hi everybody.

I wanted to properly config my mHack GPU & IGPU, to get rid of NoVPAJpeg kext. So I went to the excellent idiots guide to Lilu, but I was not able to get it work, and @jaymonkey had no idea why it was not working, so I'm opening a new thread for that.

First a recap of my config : MoBo gygabyte GA-Z97X-UD5H, CPU core i5 4690 3,5Ghz (IGPU HD4600), GPU is GeForce GTX 760, and RAM Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer 16GB 1600. Running Mojave. Sysdef iMac 15,1

I've made SSDT for power management, and tweaked a bit my config with different mac os release, but nothing fancy. I have to say that, strangely, from the beginning, my cpu is noted as 3,49 instead of 3,5Ghz, but I never understood why and it didn't seems to have an impact so ...

The thing is, when I activate IGPU in my bios (wich is the latest), boot time become incredibly long (like 5-8 mn). And when the progress bar reach the end, the monitors just shut down. Because I wanted to use Hackintool to generate a patch to have a headless IGPU, I connected remotely to my mHack which worked (so when the screen goes black, it just switch to IGPU instead of staying on EGPU). I generated the patch, and paste it in my config. Boot time stayed incredibly long, but didn't switched to IGPU at the end. Instead, my registered soft and iCloud thought it was a new computer with a Sysdef iMac 14,1 instead of iMac 15,1 (!!!). But there was an error in my config, there was a closing tag that was not opened and @jaymonkey told me I pasted the code in the wrong place. So I erased the closing tag and pasted the code in the proper place, but then, slow boot, and again no image after the progress bar, and still no jpeg preview in finder ...
In my EFI folder, in the APPLE folder, there's a file named IM141_0130_B00.scap, wich looks like iMac 14,1, could this cause problems ?

I join a file with my config.plist and screenshots of my BIOS, if anyone can help, that would be greatly appreciated . Obviously, if you need an ioreg or anything I will provide happily

most likely the platform-id setting is wrong, you may check your clover boot log

Hi ! Sorry, it's been a while but I crashed my computer while updating to 10.14.6 (in fact it was clover update that broke it by removing aptiomemoryfix from UEFI, took me a while to figure this out) and then it was holidays ! (note : I reverted to an old clover while trying to have my computer back and I'm not confident in updating it again, that's why it's a 4972 revision)

So, I run the terminal to have my clover boot log, but I can't find the platform id in it

Hi everybody.

I wanted to properly config my mHack GPU & IGPU, to get rid of NoVPAJpeg kext. So I went to the excellent idiots guide to Lilu, but I was not able to get it work, and @jaymonkey had no idea why it was not working, so I'm opening a new thread for that.

First a recap of my config : MoBo gygabyte GA-Z97X-UD5H, CPU core i5 4690 3,5Ghz (IGPU HD4600), GPU is GeForce GTX 760, and RAM Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer 16GB 1600. Running Mojave. Sysdef iMac 15,1

I've made SSDT for power management, and tweaked a bit my config with different mac os release, but nothing fancy. I have to say that, strangely, from the beginning, my cpu is noted as 3,49 instead of 3,5Ghz, but I never understood why and it didn't seems to have an impact so ...

The thing is, when I activate IGPU in my bios (wich is the latest), boot time become incredibly long (like 5-8 mn). And when the progress bar reach the end, the monitors just shut down. Because I wanted to use Hackintool to generate a patch to have a headless IGPU, I connected remotely to my mHack which worked (so when the screen goes black, it just switch to IGPU instead of staying on EGPU). I generated the patch, and paste it in my config. Boot time stayed incredibly long, but didn't switched to IGPU at the end. Instead, my registered soft and iCloud thought it was a new computer with a Sysdef iMac 14,1 instead of iMac 15,1 (!!!). But there was an error in my config, there was a closing tag that was not opened and @jaymonkey told me I pasted the code in the wrong place. So I erased the closing tag and pasted the code in the proper place, but then, slow boot, and again no image after the progress bar, and still no jpeg preview in finder ...
In my EFI folder, in the APPLE folder, there's a file named IM141_0130_B00.scap, wich looks like iMac 14,1, could this cause problems ?

I join a file with my config.plist and screenshots of my BIOS, if anyone can help, that would be greatly appreciated . Obviously, if you need an ioreg or anything I will provide happily

config.plist > Devices > Properties doesn't look right. I can't remember off the top of my head, but I think ig-platform-id and device-id are wrong. Triple check to make sure that info is correct.

If you are on one of the more recent versions of Clover and Lilu/WhateverGreen/AppleALC, you can probably skip manually entering anything in config.plist > Devices > Properties and just let them auto detect everything.

You can also, skip using SSDT for power management and just enable PluginType=true.

The file in your /EFI/Apple/ folder shouldn't make any difference, you can probably delete it. It's not needed.

Thanks a LOT for your answer. I have few questions, first, is it safe to just delete in clover configurator the platform and device ids, as I use latest Lilu a.s.o. ?
Second, which file is not needed in EFI/Apple ? I have multiple folders in it (extensions, firmware & updaters)
For the SSDT it took me a lot of time getting it working in previous Mac OS versions (cheers @toleda ) but if it's not needed anymore I will get rid of it, thanks !

2. config.plist settings for headless IGPU are correct for HD 4600 (PlatformID 0x0412000B, DeviceID 04120000).
3. SMBIOS in use iMac15,1 is the recommended one to use for your hardware.

So your configuration looks correct (I use the same PlatfromID, DeviceID and SMBIOS on my i7 4790K system)

It could be a BIOS issue ... have you tried updating it ?

Have you tried PlatformID 0x04120004 ? (which is the only other HD4600 headless platformID)

You could try letting WEG configure the IGPU as headless automatically (as @pastrychef) suggested. The latest version of WEG has much improved auto IGPU configuration, however unless it does something we don't know it should basically use the same settings as you have now (or maybe 0x04120004)

I can’t upgrade to latest clover, I don’t know why I end up with a black screen. The drivers 64 folder delete some, and even if I put those back it’s still not working, had to revert to my 4972 backup. The other kexts are the latest. Don't know what the clover mess is about, I had the problem already once (around clover 46xx) and managed to have it back by putting back AptioMemoryFix-64.efi but this time can't figure out what's wrong.

I don’t find any line named « properties » in my config.plist, opened with bbedit.

For the SSDT, I just throw the file away ? then, to enable PluginType, in Clover Configurator, is it the one with a scroll menu where you can select nothing, 0 or 1 (so True would be 1, right ?) or is it the PluginType line with a checkbox, and so I need to check it ?

Sorry for the dumb questions but it already took me a looong time to recover my working clover (now I have a backup of it on the EFI of my backup HD !!), that I don ’t want to mess everything again .

My BIOS is the latest. I haven't tried to change platform ID because I wanted to follow both your advice to let WEG manage the thing. So the configuration is good (that makes one forum thread I've done correctly ! ), but letting WEG do it should be safest with futur upgrades, probably.
