[Guide] Intel NUC7/NUC8 using Clover UEFI (NUC7i7Bxx,NUC8i7Bxx,etc)

I don't know what you are referring too when you say "The latter was advised in RM comments for dealing with Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655, which is my case." Maybe that is a dated reference, anyone running an NUC8 regardless of processor has Iris Plus 655 graphics which is natively supported in OSX now.

Hi Leesureone,

Thanks again for your help.

Here is the message where RM mentioned CFLALT (Nov 20, '18) :

Also, I selected High Sierra because it seems it's the latest MacOs version which is able to run the old chap iPhoto :
I'm a photographer and stick to it. Seems that Mojave does not allow running it.

Regards, G.G.

Gotcha, a lot has changed since then with modifications to Whatevergreen.kext. Meanwhile I totally understand the need to stay with High Sierra and really it should work without the screen distortions somehow. There is a lot of work going on in this forum in regards to graphics and you might find help there by posting your question or searching for screen flickering in High Sierra with Iris Plus 655 graphics.

On another note I did find this article on Apple Discussions about a version of iPhoto that is apparently available and will run on Mojave if you ever decide to go that route

Thanks for the reply @Leesureone I got my install fixed by adding NVE kext as my primary installation is on m.2 drive.
Now everything runs smooth and stable so far.

I even add Bluetooth keyboard to the machine with unnamed Chinese dongle, by simply disabling the build in WIFI and BT devices in BIOS.

Thank you for the help, this forum is amazing.

That’s great! Hopefully other users with that model will note the need for the kext.

Hi, I bought exactly the same NUC as @RehabMan - NUC7i7BNH.
After following closely this guide I am experiencing "kextd stall[n], (240s): 'AppleACPICPU'" during installation.
Please note that I am using VM to create the installation disk, but using the RM's clover to create the bootable EFI disk.
My NUC is updated to the latest bios version as for now 46.

I can go pass this stall and install MAC OSx but after installation I am unable to boot in OS.

There is another user having a similar issue but with an NUC8. Posts 285 and 286 below, the advice from the moderator is to update Clover. Just an FYI.

Did you execute these terminal commands after install?

Code:
make
make install_nuc8bc
The 'make' causes the patched files to be compiled (with iasl), the results placed in ./build.

Yes.. I can mount EFI and use clover fine - making changes, etc. all of that works great.

Did you follow the guide exclusively? If you did have you since checked for updated versions of kexts and or clover? That can make a difference. If you have and you are still having that issue you can attach the problem reporting files specified in the first post.

your install instructions works great also an 4K Display with Thunderbolt

As you all know I never was able to finish update from 10.14.3 > 10.14.4.
I was stuck on this or kext stall AppleACPICPU

So i just tried the kext folders from @Leesureone, no luck.
I also tried the kext folder of https://github.com/sarkrui/NUC8i7BEH-Hackintosh-Build, no luck at first.

But: I downgraded from BIOS v66 to v56 and now I'm able to watch my NUCintosh finishing the update, about 8 minutes remaining.

How To Downgrade Bios on Intel NUC8i7BEH (v56) - Power Button Method (https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000005532/mini-pcs.html)

1. copy BE0056.bio (unzip attached file) to fat32 usb
2. power of NUC
3. insert usb stick
4. press and hold power button until it turns from blue to orange, then release power button
5. wait for the bios recovery menu, press F4
402027

6. Wait 2–5 minutes for the update to complete:
402026

7. follow the instructions to turn off
8. turn on, enter bios F2
9. load defaults F9
10. set BIOS settings for macOS
- Boot -> Boot Configuration, disable "**Network Boot**"
- Power -> Secondary Power Settings, "**Wake on LAN from S4/S5**", set to "**Stay Off**"
- Boot -> Secure Boot, disable "**Secure Boot**"
- Devices -> OnBoard Devices, disable "**Bluetooth**" (macOS is not compatible well with Intel Wi-Fi/Bluetooth)

While I write this the update finished and I'm able to login again :)

Regards.

I think it was just downgrading the bios that made the difference and allowed your config.plist to work again. I'm running version 66 using this edit shown below in post 249. Glad you are back up and running again!
