pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

If I use any SMBIOS higher than 14.x I get some funky screen latency/lag. It disappears when going down in SMBIOS. Does the SMBIOS has any functional value?

Yes, it has functional value. iMac14,2 doesn't require IGPU to be enabled on systems that had dGPU for Preview and Quick Look to function. On an old build that I had, using incorrect system definition prevented CPU speed steps from working right.

You should match system definitions that come as close to your CPU and motherboard chipset as possible.

You can try manually entering the following in to your config.plist to see if it makes a difference. Are you using DisplayPort or HDMI? 4K monitor?
391292

Displayport on 4K monitor (HD630).

I wiped my HD, did a new clean Mojave install (UniBeast), swapped the EFI folder with your newest EFI folder after install, changed the SMBIOS to 18.1, added the USB exclusions and added the SSDT-USB.aml file to folder as in your instructions. Everything seems to work right now, and no weird graphic hickups. Thanks!

The only "problem" I have, and always have had with a Hackintosh, is with my Wacom tablet. When connecting a USB drive for example, the cursor is not responding for 10-15 seconds. Then it starts working again. USB mouse connected works fine all the time. It makes no difference whether I connect my Wacom directly in the MB or in a powered USB 3 hub. I can live with that though, as I only connect USB peripherals when backing up data to off site backup, or when ingesting image/video files from memory cards.

I had some weird problems with the last installation, where Firefox and Safari would only stream some (totally random it seems) content from YouTube, but not other. I could easily stream the same content on my phone and MacBook Air on the same Wifi. Don't know if it had something to do with waking back up from sleep? I'm using a TP-Link Archer T6E for Wifi, which works fine OOB.

Thanks again!

I wonder what the difference is between your first install and second...

Since your motherboard is different from mine, you shouldn't use my SSDT-USB.aml file. You should create your own. Each motherboard has a different USB layout and the SSDT-USB.aml files are not interchangeable. That's why I do not include it with the EFI folder. The SSDT-USB.aml file in post #1 is ONLY for Strix Z370-G Gaming. In my opinion, the easiest guide to follow for fixing USB is this one.

Something sounds very odd with your first installation. Don't know why you were having YouTube problems.

I've never used a TP-Link Wi-Fi card. I don't have any experience with them at all.

Yeah it's quite strange, but I think I have the same Mac experience with the OS, as I'm used to on my MacBook Air and on the Mac mini I used to have

I'm quite sure our MB's are identical?

Thanks!

Oops. Yes, same motherboard. My delusional eyes saw Z370-F for a sec... Been playing too much Breath Of The Wild...

I was able to snag a MSI Radeon RX Vega 56 Air Boost 8G OC on NewEgg the other day for $289.99 (plus $30 MIR). @pastrychef, should I anticipate any snafus while swapping out my RX 580? My EFI folder is almost identical to yours. Are there still fan issues where the VGTab utility needs to be used?

9th Gen CPU IGPU fix:
Despite it being UHD 630, the 9th gen CPUs have a different device-id for IGPU. As of this writing (macOS 10.14.1), macOS has not been updated to recognize the new device-id. Therefore, we have to spoof the 8th gen device-id to get IGPU to work properly. We can do this by adding the following to config.plist.
If you have a dGPU, use these settings:
If you are using IGPU only, use these settings:
BIOS 1601 IGPU settings for 9th gen CPU users:
Vt-d : enabled ?!?
