Dude you're a genious! Over the last week I had several moderators steering me toward ensuring AptioMemoryFix and my efi folder and blah blah. Anyway, I have hardware acceleration AND Thunderbolt, albeit for now only enabled and only recognizing UAD Apollo but not the other Slate VRS8 interface. Hey, it's a great start - I'll take it! THANKS MAN!

No problems. There is another way which involves doing 'geeky' things in the UEFI shell prompt to give a value to a slide=0xXXX command for the Clover boot process, but I cannot get it to work for me ATM, and I'm an old geek and understand most things electronic & software related. Maybe one day soon I'll crack it and add it to my Mojave build that I'm trying to get of the ground soon. So keep an eye out for it, even though you don't have the same motherboard, there might be some relevant things in it that you can use.

For sure! For the last several hours I've been reading all the conversations you've had on this thread and let me tell you, my gears are now turning like they never have before. I'm not running Titan Ridge, but Asus THEX3 in my Hero 9 Z270, but I'm hoping to harness some of what I learn here and from another forum user name @joevt who has peaked my curiosity about possibly modifying driver to get macOS to recognize the VRS8.

Just to let you guys/gals know that Mojave 10.14.3 (18D42) is out and details are here.

My post and preminarily results are here FWIW. Working fine ATM.

As always backup beforehand! Things can go 'pear shaped'!

I have tested the last BIOS (in my case the F13b) and unfortunately it does not work. I remain stuck on:
PTIDSensor: started

For those interested in the Thunderbolt hotplug, I communicate that the problem is related to the BIOS version that is used, in my case for the GB Z370 UG the version that allows me to have the fully hotplug functional is the F10.

A short time ago I explained to the GB support my experience and suggested to bring the changes present in the F10 version even in the most updated versions of all MB, so that everyone could have the TB hotplug.
I was hoping this BIOS was the turning point, but...

Hello!
Stupid question, but do you think, as a noob, if I follow your instruction I will success this build?
What change can I make on the hardware without risking a fail? (except the Sour Patch Kids Sweet).

I took a deep breath last night and hit the checkout button on all of the parts to build my first Hackintosh following this guide! It's been over a decade since I built my own PC (I have a Computer Science degree, but I was a software chick and never really got into the hardware side of things), so I've enlisted my brother (also a CS) to come and assist with the build when everything comes in. He agreed to help, but insisted that I order the large bag of Sour Patch Kids as payment.

I stuck to the provided parts list with just a few deviations:

- I left the TB card off since I don't have any TB peripherals. I figure I can always go back and add one in if needed.
- I swapped the CPU cooler out for the Noctua NH-D15S that others have recommended in this thread.
- I ordered the EVO 970 M.2 1TB instead of the 960 500GB. I've done some reading since then (Googling and also have read about a third of this thread so far) that the 970 has been a little problematic for Hackintosh builds. Is it more stable now than when first released, or should I swap it out for the 960?
- I ordered a pair of the recommended graphics cards since I run four HD monitors and do a lot of graphics intensive work. I plan on getting one up and running before throwing the second one at the system.
- I'm going ahead and maxing RAM out at 64GB (but using the recommended RAM from the build guide).
- I'll also be adding in WiFi since I don't have a network drop anywhere near my office. I did get one off of the Buyer's Guide list (TP-Link Archer T9E AC1900).

I've done a little reading, and it looks like the Z370 AORUS Gaming 7 mobo is on the list of those that received firmware upgrades to support the 9th gen processors. My husband is already telling me that the i7-8700K is ridiculous (he means this in the nicest way possible ) for what I do, but I have to admit that I'm sort of eyeing one of the Core i9s...is that a really bad idea? Is it even supported for this build? (Again, I am SO not a hardware person!)

I'm excited to get started! I actually ordered the case before all of the other parts (Newegg had a sale and a rebate), and it's arriving today. Everything else will trickle in over the next few days to a week, with the Bluetooth dongle being the last to arrive.

Any commentary/advice on the changes I've made or recommended upgrades is welcome! I'll report back and let you guys know how it's going once I've got the hardware in-house.

Looks great!

@scrappyJedi

Here's a build video that uses the exact same motherboard, the Aorus Gaming 7. The case looks a lot different on the exterior but the interior layout is very close to the Phanteks case most people choose for this build. Start watching at the 57 minute mark and you'll learn some of the basics of PC building that you need to know. (There's a lot of unrelated content in the first hour)

This is not an edited and polished build video, it's just a live stream that hasn't been edited and condensed.

@trs96 Oh, awesome- thanks! I will definitely watch that!

I am using the same Phanteks case, so it'll be good to see how it all fits together. I'm not a complete neophyte with computer hardware (I cracked open my iMac and my MacBook Air to do an SSD upgrade and have built a couple of Windows based systems in the distant past), but it's been a while and a lot has changed!
