[SUCCESS] Ongoing Status of Designare Z390 with i7-9700K

Memtest sounds like a very useful tool for troubleshooting random crashes, and warrants a mention in the build guide. Will update it soon. Debug=0x100 causes the system to halt on a kernel panic rather than reboot.

Your RAM should be under warranty, hence free replacement...

Got it. Bad RAM makes sense because I don't have any kernel panic log files in ~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/.

My other stick of RAM passed Memtest perfectly fine overnight. I've removed the offending DIMM and will see if I encounter any system hangs.

I would also try removing and re-seating the RAM module, then rerunning Memtest, just to be sure that the DIMM is or is not defective before doing an exchange.

Alright, I hate to bug you guys with this, but I've taken the plunge back into hackintosh with a build based on CaseySJ's success but with a minor modification. High Sierra. I work in ProTools and it doesn't support Mojave as yet, but want a powerful enough machine to do the heavy lifting that I'd like, from large FX sessions, Video Editing and some gaming. And the Apple offerings for the price are dismal. So here we go.

That being said, I've taken the lead from CaseySJ's boldness and with these parts:
Designare Z390, i7 9700K, xfx Radeon 580, 32Gig G.SKILL Trident Z, EVGA CPU cooler, 970 Evo 500 Gig and HP EX120 1TB drive.

Everything fires up just fine, but I never make it to the Mac install window.

Attached are some files that I hope will shed some lite on my circumstances.

By the way, there's some very funny stuff written along side those code lines, would love to know who that comedian is! :)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That gIOScreenLockState suggests that the installer was about to activate the graphics device and switch to the GUI. Is your display monitor connected to the iGPU or to the RX580?

Also note that Apple added native support for RX580 starting with 10.13.6 build of High Sierra.

I haven't done Hackintosh installations of 10.13.x, but it might be worth adding Lilu and WhateverGreen to your CLOVER/kexts/Other folder on the USB install disk. Then attempt the installation with display monitor connected to RX580 and, if same problem, switch to iGPU.

If you have a USB-C to DisplayPort cable and your monitor has a DP input, you can try either of the two Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports to connect your monitor. So this is a third video option.

Also feel free to compress and upload the entire EFI folder from the USB install disk.

Awesome. Greatly appreciated.
So, the monitor is currently hooked into the 580 via DVI. The Bootloader was in USB 2.0. I have a usb 2.0 splitter for the keyboard and mouse.

I'll find Lilu and WhateverGreen and see how that changes things.

Attached is a new EFI folder for the USB Install Disk. On your Mac, insert the USB install disk and mount the EFI partition. Then backup the current EFI folder and delete the original. Copy the attached EFI folder to the EFI partition. Eject the USB disk and try to start the installation on the Designare Z390.

Disclaimer: No guarantees because of my lack of High Sierra experience, but I've tried to keep things simple.

Thanks for trying. Hung up in same spot. Going to try to hook up to on board GPU

Agreed. Let's leave the RX580 out and install using iGPU. You may get a black screen if you use Device ID 0x3E92 or 0x3E9B. But if you use 0x3E98 your HDMI should work but without graphics acceleration. This is actually fine. After High Sierra is installed, this can be fixed.

Success. Got iOS loaded. But then things get funky in post installation. Had to go into Bios and change Gpu to onboard intel instead of PCIE.

First, there are all sorts of digital artifacts in the tabs of the browser. Crazy graphics stuff. I tried loading your 580 driver but had a bit of a dance with the system. plugged the HDMi into the 580 and things went whacky. n reboot, got a black screen. Then went back and forth between onboard and external GPU. Got the circle slash symbol, booted in safe mode and made some changes of which I have no recall. But I'm back in the software again.

I'm going to look over what you've accomplished here and do a step by step stabilization.

You said that after install, the HDMI could be fixed. Working on that.

And then dive into Bluetooth/Wifi. But more for the hand off and all other Apple extras. Also need to get the wifi module

Then TB3

Thanks for your help thus far.
