How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

OK, I have positive news. After a few reboots I got the TB-3 display working. I started with one DP connection and only AFTER added the 2nd connection.

Results:
Windows, one cable: 4K max
Windows, two cables: 5K desired target resolution
OSX: Normal verbose start lines, when the system should present the log-in screen, black screen - so I can't say anything about 4k or 5k in OSX unless we find a patch for the black screen issue

Hello @kgp , I'm no expert in Hackintosh configuration, but started to learn more about it.

I saw your article here few months ago and decided to build one up similar to yours.

My Specs:

i9-7940x
Asus X299 prime deluxe (like yours)
ASUS Radeon RX Vega 64 8GB Overclocked 2048-Bit HBM2 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready Video Card (STRIX-RXVEGA64-O8G-GAMING)

CORSAIR Dominator Platinum 64GB (4x16GB) DDR4 3000MHz C15 Desktop Memory

Fenvi Dual Band Wireless-AC Desktop BT PCI Express (PCIe) Card 8265 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, Dual Band, 2x2, MU-MIMO AC1200 Wireless Adapter with Magnetic Antenna ( Seen many reports that this unit works straight out of the box )

Noctua NH-D15 6 heatpipe with Dual NF-A15 140mm fans

Samsung 970 EVO 1TB - NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 SSD (MZ-V7E1T0BW)

Crucial P1 500GB 3D NAND NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD - CT500P1SSD8

Crucial MX500 1TB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 Inch Internal SSD - CT1000MX500SSD1(Z)

Samsung EVO 860 1TB SSD

** Not interested in the thunderbolt as if now** Have no devices that benefit from it

So would your EFI be any help to me to shortcut the process of installation and will you be able to help me in case I needed help my dear?

I'm mainly going to use it for video/photo editing

Sure, just go ahead and count on my help if necessary.

You might rethink your envisaged CPU cooling though. At least some of-the-shelf water cooling might be preferable in any case.

Windows results are as expected.
MacOS: maybe VegaGraphicsFixup.kext helps?
BTW.. what about booting macOS via DP1.4 and then hotplugging via TB3 just for testing?

Actually, it turns out rather tricky: After changing back to TB3, I see exactly nothing (black screen) again from the boot on. No boot logo, nothing.

In this state I did a how-switch, but it did not work, as expected.

I have issues to understand when the system would boot fine from the scratch on when TB-3 is connected as display pipeline.

At the moment it is not functioning stable.

But you mentioned the Display to work via TB3 under Windows? To reach there how do you pass the BIOS Boot Screen and Clover Boot Menu without any image?

Well, the sequence is a bit different @kgp:

I start the computer - back screen, but monitor is connected the same way it was when I could see the boot logo. Thus no choice if Windows or OSX, since I can't even see clover or anything at all.

Until now I cannot resemble the error, but the results from testing are:

2x fail to boot, because I cannot see
1x successful boot, with options to test Windows or OSX (until command line ends)

I have prepared the EFI folder with Vegafixup, but I can't test right now, because I do not see anything on that screen. When I switch back to DP only, everything is fine.

To be continued ...

Switch Display settings from DP1.4 to DP1.2 and you will see boot screen and clover boot menu.

Hello @kgp,
First of all, thank you for this amazing guide that allows me to finally get High Sierra working with my brand new config rig. Everything is working except for the sleep...
As you mentioned, i have checked Pike's post about debugging sleep issue but i don't even have PMStatusCode nor IOPMSystemSleepType entries.
So i wonder how did you fix this sleep issue on your side since we almost have the same config ?

My issue in details :

After successfully install/configure everything, i ended up with a fully functional system (thanks again) and i wanted to test the sleep so i did it but it wasn't working...
My rig was shutting down, and stay shutdown until i type something on keyboard or click with my mouse. If i click, my rig seems to be awake again but my screens (i have dual screen) stays black and no mater what i do, they stay black. I need to push the reset btn to get the system running properly again.
So i've tried to include the Pike's SSDT-SLEEP.aml to ACPI/patched folder and now, the system doesn't even stay to sleep mode, it actually directly awakes after going to sleep and my screens remains black.

My Specs :

- Asus Prime x299 Deluxe (same as you).
- Intel Core i9-7920X (12 Core, 24 Threads @2,9 GHz).
- Corsair vengeance 128GB (8x16GB) RAM 3200MHz.
- 2 x Nvidia Geforce GTX 1080 Ti (Gigabyte Aorus Extreme Edition) with SLI bridge.
- The Thunderbolt 3 adapter that comes with the motherboard but nothing plugged in to it (i have no TB3 devices).
And i have a fully water-cooled system. (max temp: 35°C)

I have put my complete EFI folder along with some screenshot in this post. Let me know if you need something else.

Hope you can help me with that :).

Thanks in advance.

Just gathered one LG-34WK95-W from Amazon. Works already with the TB-Titan Ridge. But macOS implements 2x monitors instead of one.

VegaGraphicsFixup does not remove the issue either...
