iMac Pro X299 - Live the Future now with macOS 10.14 Mojave [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

The GC-Titan Ridge only has 1x DP1.4 out and 2x DP-mini in, I did not verify if sleep/wake works with this configuration, but I expect it to work as it also works with USB-C devices connected.

Otherwise use one of the DP1.4 ports of your Vega.

I found a funny problem:
- if i use the GC-Titan DP, monitor works correctly
- if i use the video card DP, the monitor does not remain black, only if it is ON after the computer and with same resolution in bios and MacOs 3840x1600 75Hz
- if i disable the monitor Freesync, the problem of the black screen disappears but strange resolution in bios and clover/boot and 3840x1600 60Hz MacOs

I did not have any of these problems with the RX580

However, stop using the GC-Titan does not solve the panic kernel.

I cannot help you based on the little information you provide. Sorry.

@kgp I continue to evaluate my options and compiling a purchase list. I’m on the monitors section now. I have the option to either get the LG Ultrafine 4K (Thunderbolt 3 only connection) or a BenQ one which supports DP1.4 and USB-C.
Considering the X299 Deluxe ships with the TB3 card (or onboard on the newer board) and the recent discussion regarding TB3 devices causing a kernel panic during sleep: should I stay away from TB3 monitors for now?

I would go for the LG 5K2K if you can.. Thus none of the monitors you have in mind..

Hi @kgp !

First, thank you for the fantastic guide and all the help you provide.
This build wouldn't be possible without you.
I followed all your instructions and everything works, except for some issues.
(same board and graphics card as you)

- I can't get the audio to work, tried AppleALC and Voodoo,
just doesn't show up in output settings (it's in the list of PCI devices though).
- USB3 ports on the front don't work
- iStatMenus: GPU temp always shows 127C (max)

I attached my EFI folder and IOReg.

Thank you!
Markus

Please enter your hardware components in your Personal Details section of your account as per the Rules: Profiles are mandatory so that others can assist you. They are only for listing components and details of your primary system you are seeking assistance for.

Desktop profile field recommendations:

Thanks for the notice! I just built this new machine, forgot to update the specs.

Missing information: DSDT.aml, PCI Snapshot of Apple's system report, exact GPU model, incorrect and uncompleted description of used Audio approaches!

Errors:
1.) Wrong FakeSMC and Sensor kexts not compatible with X299. Please ask @RehabMan to update his sensor kexts for X299 compatibility. This is already the third time that people use his FakeSMC and Sensor kext distribution, which unfortunately is not compatible with X299. At least he should mention this at some place.
2.) No idea if you properly compiled AppleALC.kext, Lilu.kext and Whatsevergreen.kext. Substituted by AppleALC v1.3.2, Lilu 1.2.7 and Whatsevergreen v1.2.3
3.) SSDT-X299-TB3HP.aml not properly implemented
4.) You did not only use AppleALC and Voodoo method but unfortunately also Toleda's AppleHDA patching! o_O All related Audio Kext Patches removed! Please install vanilla AppleHDA.kext using Kext Utility!
5.) Inconsistent Clover installation
6.) If your Vega does not properly work yet provide exact model description!

Else use modified EFI-Folder attached below.

Good luck,

KGP

I guess you might witness the same issue as the problem relates with the GC-Titan Ridge firmware.

So then i will probably be better of buying alpine ridge or ThunderboltEx 3 then? The Ex3 is still available in some swedish online stores.

Each TB adapter currently has some flaws. I totally discourage from buying the TBEX3. That’s definitely the worst choice and not only because it is just a one port TB solution. The GC-Titan Ridge in my opinion is still one of the best options and perfectly works with X299 apart from the wake issue with TB devices connected, which might be fixed by a simple firware update in the near future.
