lost audio after a direct upgrade to Mojave

Remove both FakePCIID kexts.
Restart, reply with new files

I removed both L/E/FakePCIID.kext and L/E/FakePCIID_Intel_HDMI_Audio.kext. No change after reboot, new files included. Thanks for your answer!

I had read this post during my setup, but my understanding was that a fresh AppleHDA.kext had been installed during the Mojave upgrade. Or is it only when doing a clean install?

I'm sure! But after reading a lot of your posts, I see you as a kind of wizard… You see things and changes that we mere mortals don't. Your instructions are always spot on! But I confess that I followed those instructions without really understanding what was going on. I guess I have a lot to learn. Thanks again!
