pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

Just wanted to thank a lot for this guide, I just managed to build my first hackintosh with specs similar to this one. And almost everything is working perfect!

Asus ROG Z370-G Wifi
i7-8700K
16GB Crucial Sport Ballistic Memory
2x 500gb SSD (Dualboot win 10)
Sapphire Vega 56 8 GB
Noctua NH-D15S

The only problem so far was with the BCM94360CS2.

I installed it wrong directly on the M2 adapter, without the plastic screw mentioned above. My mouse started to behave very erratic when i booted, I then realized WiFi or BT was not working so I shut down the computer. When I took the card out it was so hot that I barley could touch it, so i guess I fried it. It's not working after a correct mounting either, so guess I have to get a new one...

Otherwise everything is fantastic, running with a 27" Dell U2715H over the DisplayPort. Had to turn off DP 1.2 on the display menu to get it to work for some reason.

Thanks for the inspiration!

Great to see another success story.

Try checking on eBay for another BCM94360CS2. I picked up two from a company selling them for about $6 shipped.

Yes, unfortunately I'm in Europe, and I haven't seen them for anything near that. Ordered one for around 30$ today, best I could find here to avoid all trouble with customs, etc.

BTW, now when I installed everything without the WiFi card in the slot, do I need to do anything when I insert the new one? Or should it just appear? I have your latest EFI r.4.3 in my EFI folder.

It should just appear.

Chef can you tell us where you bought these? And was it included antenna's and M2 adaptor? Probably not ;-)
Now I see M2 adaptors for about 7-8 euro and wifi cards for about 10 euro. Antenna's I have to look. (I have other mainboard without wifi)

Also, you told in your intro that airplay works. With my hack I see the symbol but it can't find my AppleTV. My iPhone does. Any idea how to fix?

I don't know if this company ships outside of the US, but this is where I purchased two of the BCM04360CS2 cards:

M.2 adaptor and antenna pigtails are not included. But I found really good deals for those on eBay as well. They shipped from China so it was quite a long wait for delivery but the prices were very low.

Yes. AirPlay video works fine for me. I never had to do anything special. It just detected my Apple TV since day 1.

mmm strange I don't see my AppleTV.

Regarding the nVidia 1080ti -> Vega 64 swap, I can sell my EVGA GTX1080Ti FTW3 for 635 euro. Just enough to buy the https://tweakers.net/pricewatch/1166197/sapphire-nitro+-radeon-rx-vega64-8g-hbm2.html

Is this a great improvement for the macOS experience (more or less is it a no-brainer?)
I'm tempting because of Battlefield V which I like to play @4K as well in Windows coming next month.

Will a 2 GPU setup be workable? Leave the GTX1080ti for windows and use a RX560 / 570 / 580 for OSX? I think in macOS its fairly simple. Just don't install the nVidia Webdrivers will turnoff the GTX1080ti almost. But what about windows? Will it be workable to use the GTX1080Ti as primary?

Switching from your GTX 1080 Ti to Vega 64 should be extremely easy. Just swap out the video cards and you should be done.

My opinion is that the Vega made macOS much smoother. I have no regrets at all about switching from my GTX 1080 to the Vega.

For gaming in Windows, I think that the Nvidia cards are still better performers.

I have never tried having both an Nvidia card and an AMD card installed at the same time so I can't really say how it will work.

Maybe I just buy a RX560 to try. If it's a nightmare to run them both then I can send it back and buy a massive Vega 64. Im mostly using 2D GUI in macOS. I don't have a problem to reboot when I need more GPU power in windows. Any recommandations to keep in mind buying a 560? 4GB at least I think?

I have an MSI RX 560 in my test system and it works very well. You should not have any problems with it.

Hello guys,
In the BIOS settings:
Advanced / System Agent (SA) Configuration / Graphics Configuration / Primary Display - PCIE
for those who use me, just the Intel UHD630 graphics, the settings should be different, I think.
