pastrychef's Asus ROG Strix Z370-G Gaming (WI-FI AC) build w/ i9-9900K + AMD 6600 XT

My issue doesn't look like his at all - I do have audio working via bt. I do have audio working via two line out ports, but not via headphone one, and the pilot functions aren't working. I'm also using your EFI, so I don't have Realtek kext installed.

What is pilot function?

Edit:
I just tested and my headphones work fine. The only thing I can suggest is to check your wiring from motherboard to case.

I posted a video of my headphone jack working. You'll notice that after plugging in the headphones, you still hear faint music coming from the headphones.

Update March 10, 2018:
I've made the switch from Nvidia to AMD in the form of an MSI Radeon RX Vega 56 Air Boost 8G OC. Everything is much smoother and less buggy. As per my usual modus operandi, I chose this card because of the blower style cooler. I want to keep temps inside the case as low as possible.

I was faced with deciding between a Vega 56 or Vega 64. At the end of the day, I went with a Vega 56 due to the significantly lower TDP. It was also the reason I chose a GTX 1080 over a GTX 1080 Ti when I bought that card. So far, I'm extremely happy with my decision.

Do you mind clarifying "much smoother"? Is it just reliability? Or do you see a performance boost? Thus far, the EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SC has performed VERY well for me (web drivers) with no hiccups (crashes, etc.). The fact I see virtually NO difference between CUDA acceleration and OpenCL acceleration. This gives me pause on keeping the card, and perhaps trading up to an AMD based card and forgoing CUDA completely (FWIW, I use this for creative apps, like Premiere, Avid, FCP, etc. Thanks!

Smoother as in general UI smoothness. Here's a video of what I mean, but it's even smoother in real life than in this video...

Hi @pastrychef!
First of all, thank you very much for this exhaustive guide. This has been my first hackintosh build and thanks to your explanations its has been an easy ride...well, almost.
Everthing is working fine in my build but i have the no wifi version of the motherboard so i´ve had to buy a pcie wifi card with bluetooh suport, that works OTB. The problem is that in order to make the bluetooth work, i need to connect the card to an internal usb conector and, if I´m right, both usb internal conectors get disabled with the usb fix (that I already did after installation following your intstructions) So, I would need to have one of the ports enabled again.
And here comes the total noob question: Is it possible to change one external port for another in the uia_exclude boot argument of the config.plist? I mean, add one of the external ports to the argument to disable it and erase one of the internal ports from there to get it enabled again so I can make the bluetooth work.

If that wouldn´t be possible, could you please be so kinf to give me any orientation about how could I make it work?
Thanks again for all your good work and effort!

Yes. You can add HS07 to the uia_exclude list. HS07 is the USB connector used for Bluetooth on the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth versions of this motherboard. Since you don't have the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth card, you can add this to the exclude list and it will not impact anything.

Then, you need to remove the USB port that your PCI-e adaptor is using from the uia_exclude list. Usually, these PCI-e adaptors use either HS12 or HS14 depending on which internal USB2 header you are using.[/user]

Thanks for this.

Can we chat off thread? Don't worry, no tech support, suggestions, or tech questions. Message me?

Worked like a charm! Thank you very, very much! Now my build is officially completed!

pastrychef, Did you have any clearance issues with your TridentZ RAM and the Noctua D15? Reading the support docs, it seems like the RAM is 44mm high, but the Noctua front fan only allows 32mm. Did you go single fan, or shift the fan for more clearance?

Thank you for all the info you have provided on your build! I'm planning an ASUS z370-A MB build in case I want thunderbolt in the future. From what I've read, others have used your EFI folder with this MB successfully. I'll just have to make a different SSDT-USB.aml. My current hackintosh built in 2011 didn't involve EFI so I'm having to learn some new stuff. I plan on using the MSI Vega56. I'll be using the computer primarily for music work and FCPX. Thanks in advance for any tips!

I am using a Noctua NH-D15S and I don't have any issues with RAM clearance or PCI-e slot. I have two fans mounted on the heatsink and it works great.

Yes, I believe there are at least a few Z370-A users using my EFI folders. As far as I know, it works fine for them. Clover is a fantastic piece of software and most of it is relatively easy to understand. If/when you have any questions, please feel free to ask and I'll to my best to explain. Even if I don't know, I can probably point you to the right people/place to ask.
