Ok, but i‘m saying, i have no crashes with my system when rendering. This is the reason why i not downgrade FCP, everthing works flawless...
No crash in FCPX export master in h264?
Have sysem 10.14.4 and FCPX 10.4.2?

You have vega ,I have rx580 (polaris).

Yes, @matt82 uses a Vega, 10.13.4 SU and FCPX 10.4.2 and everything works flawless. Also @Lexus1234 with a Vega and 10.13.4 SU does not encounter any problem.

That’s why I asked you, why not to use ATI GPUs with 10.13.4 SU and FCPX 10.4.2!

Buy a Vega 64 or Vega FE (same card, latter has more HBM2 RAM). You can still get a pretty penny with your RX580 on Ebay (miners love them) and add about $200 and get a Vega 64 (they are now more in stock nowadays).

Trust me, do this and you will have less headaches.

The RX580 is better suited for something like an 8700k that has an iGPU and 18,3 SMBIOS.

You have a high end HEDT system, get a Vega 64.

Mate, forget nVidia if you are using FCPX.

We are not talking about Nvidia here. His issues are supposedly related with a RX 580 and FCPX 10.3.4! ;)

I know I edited :)

EDIT: I have another system with an RX560 thats a older 6700k with iGPU enabled.

FCPX works fine on that system because iGPU is also used in FCPX.

There is something that FCPX does when it sees it's on an iMac Pro SMBIOS. Since iMac Pro doesn't use iGPU, it most likely switches over to Vega acceleration.

RX series is recommended for non HEDT with 18,3 SMBIOS, not iMac Pro SMBIOS.

Vega 56 and Vega 64 are better options for FCPX if you are using iMac Pro.

You need to put your machine to sleep, wait until it wakes up by itself, then use pmset -g log.
The output is very long, hundreds of lines, don't copy/paste it here. Attach the file.

In there it will show you exactly what caused the wake.
Thanks man! Will do it this weekend and attach text file.

I think you're right, in all forums there are problems with the polaris, it seems that Vega architecture does not give those problems.

Since FCPX 10.4 by itself doesn't support HEVC, the preset must be added from Compressor. The procedure is described in this article by Larry Jordan:https://larryjordan.com/articles/configure-final-cut-pro-x-to-output-hevc-h-265/

I never said that gpus amd was not used, I say that polaris RX580 fails because FCPX is apparently using AMD's VCE (Video Coding Engine) hardware acceleration for H264 and HEVC encode / decode.

This affects not in the video editing, but it does affect in its export and from what I am reading in the support forum of apple in vega it does not happen, but with polaris yes.

As I said before I only have a fault when I export in h264 or h265(HVEC) and clarify, using RX580 Polaris Architecture. Everything else works OOB without problems.

@izo1 he is right, better for this field acquire a vega 64, less problems.

a case of many https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8231532
