[Guide] Lenovo Y50 (UHD or 1080p) using Clover UEFI

Status
Not open for further replies.
Hi All,
Having difficulty completing a new UEFI install (13.3.4) on a Lenovo y50-70 UHD with successful bios mod and DVMT set to 128M. I got past the USB installer issue by adding the .IABootFiles folder and copying the boot.efi. All of the install scripts seem to have run fine. I can boot to the new OSX install if I boot Clover from the flash, but unable to complete a boot straight from clover on the system disk. Booting in verbose mode, the process hangs at IOConsoleUsers.

Clover did not have a means to boot without caches. Following some other threads, I attempted booting with -f, as well as deleting com.apple.kext.caches then rebuilding the cache. Unfortunately...no success.

Problem Reporting files are attached.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

My version of Clover has boot without caches. It is linked from the main Clover laptop guide.

"Problem Reporting" files are incomplete/wrong (EFI not requested, ioreg missing, etc)
Read FAQ, "Problem Reporting" again. Carefully. Attach all requested files/output.

Use the gen_debug.sh tool mentioned in the FAQ, that way it is less likely you'll omit something.

Attached are the debug files. Looks like the original IOReg corrupted. Sorry...

I did have your Clover build installed as part of the post-install steps. However, it just hangs as soon as it gets to the IOConsoleUsers. My installer had the generic Clover installed.

To be clear, all of this is being captured after booting from Clover on the USB (minimal kexts).

4k displays require defeating the pixel clock limit.
Best to use CoreDisplayFixup.kext+Lilu.kext.
Some day, I'll update the scripts in the guide to automatically download and install it.

Thanks.
I booted to OSX using Clover installer, added both kexts to the /EFI/Clover/kexts/Other on the system disk (system responded that Lilu.kext was already installed and a newer version), deleted /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches, and rebuilt the kextcache...but still hanging.

The last entry on booting from the system disk:
Setting BTCoex Config: enable2G:1, profile_2g:0, enable_5g:1, profile_5g:0

Do I need to remove one of the other kexts or patches already applied?

Did all the terminal commands in OP, but when I restart the laptop, the graphics is still weird as it would be before running the commands

See FAQ for how to install kexts correctly.

My apologies. I attached the files. For reference though, this is the update

after running this command (sudo touch /System/Library/Extensions && sudo kextcache -u /) in terminal, my laptop gets stuck at "Setting btcoex config: enable_2g:1, profile_2g:0, enable_5g:1, profile_5g:1"

Your Clover bootlog (extracted from ioreg) shows you booting from USB (with a different EFI/Clover than you attached).
The Clover setup you're using is not configured correctly for graphics, so I don't know why you expect working graphics.

I have to boot with the USB otherwise I can't get into the system at all

EDIT: My clover is version 4422 which I was told was needed for 10.13.4
