Hey guys,

I'm just tried to make my Dell 15 5577 works with 10.13.2, and with so many help from this forum and direct help from RehabMan, I finally succeed. So I wrote this in suppose that this may help others.

1. Hardware

upload_2017-12-31_15-52-37.png
  • Mother board: HM175
  • CPU: i5-7300HQ
  • GPU: HD630 + GTX1050
  • Wireless and Bluetooth: BCM94352Z (I replaced the in-built one)
  • Audio Card: ALC256 (branded as ALC3234)
  • Ethernet: RTL8111
2. What's Working
  • Native power management
  • Intel GPU
  • Audio
  • TrackPad
  • Wi-Fi
  • Blutooth
  • Ethernet
  • HDMI video
  • USB
  • Built-in camera
  • Built-in mic
3. What's Not Working
  • Card reader
  • Backlight control (I just didn't solve this problem)
  • HDMI audio (not tested)
  • Fn not very clear (maybe caused by Karabiner?)
4. General Setup
There are already many information in this forum, so I decide not to repeat them here.

For basic setup, you can get help here:
https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...ierra-on-any-supported-intel-based-pc.235474/
Notice:
Because this is a dual-GPU laptop, you need to do things described here:
https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...nds-with-dual-gpu.233092/page-20#post-1658838

5. Post-install
Keyboard, USB, built-in camera and Ethernet are working once I use the multiBeast to

- APFS
If you use APFS as your file system, don't forget to add the apfs.efi to /EFI/Clover/drivers64UEFI.

- Intel HD630
You need to set the DVMT-prealloca to 64MB, I modified the BIOS, of course there are ways handling this problem.
https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-booting-the-os-x-installer-on-laptops-with-clover.148093/

- Native Power Management
I just followed the instructions here:
https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-native-power-management-for-laptops.175801/

- Bluetooth and Wi-Fi
BCM94352Z is really easy to handle, and the instructions are here:
https://www.tonymacx86.com/network/104850-guide-airport-pcie-half-mini-v2.html

- Audio
The monther board is series 100, so we need to change HDAS to HDEF in config.plist.
The ALC256 is not supported by AppleADC, so used AppleALC to solve the problem, CodecCommand is needed also.
https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...p-realtek-applehda-guide.219810/#post-1492288
https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/applehda-realtek-audio-guide.234732/#post-1606764
https://github.com/RehabMan/EAPD-Codec-Commander

And the files are here in attachment.

- Apple Verification
Apple will check your hardware information when providing you services, like iMessage.
This is easy to solve if you don't hurry to login AppStore or use iMessage before handle the SMBIOS.
The instructions here is helpful:
https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/an-idiots-guide-to-imessage.196827/

And this process is really painful.

Last but not the least, thanks again, for the gorgeous works by the masters.

hi maquedexiju , i would like to begin by saying how thankful i am that u created a guide specific for dell 5577(i have been searching the internet from quite some time now), thank you!!!
also i would like to inform that i am new to hackintosh and to this community so plz forgive me for lack of knowledge that i may show.

maquedexiju it would be very helpful if you could create a detailed step wise guide (or video) on how to hackintosh (dual boot) dell inspiron 15 5577 laptop without ssd, it will be very helpful especially for newbies like me out there .

in step 4 u have asked to disable NVidia 1050 and the link provided informs about 3 methods which one did u follow. i read through about acpi patching etc.. will following any of those methods cause dual boot issues or will it affect my gpu performance in any way in the windows environment.

if u could create a specific stepwise guide from scratch on how u installed on your laptop would be immensenly appreciated and will be grateful.
thank you again for the above guide .

It means re-install the computer to capture the video which might be very difficult for me.
You can look for help from the thread here, and it worked for me.

Yes, you're right, I did like this: you can get the boot.efi file using clover, and place it in the efi partition, by this way, you can start Windows using clover, but also you can use the BIOS to choose the boot.efi to start Windows, in which way the GPU performance will not be affected.

thank you so much for the quick reply maquedexiju !!

yes i understand it would be very difficult for you am grateful u created a specific guide for dell 5577, so guess ill try to troubleshoot the problems as i encounter them.

here is the first problem i am experiencing now, as per the this link:https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...ierra-on-any-supported-intel-based-pc.235474/ ,i created my bootable usb (i made no changes to the config.plist file), but i am stuck with the apple logo (progress bar completes more than 70% then hangs) i am not able to reach the sierra install screen,
IMG_3653.jpg

To check if it was the config.plist problem i used the config.plist file in attachments that u have provided(inside the post-install folder) i simply replaced it with the config file in the efi partition of the usb, in this case the progress bar in the apple logo screen comes half way and my laptop restarts.

if the issue is due to the config.plist file plz provide me with the config file you used.

if i am experiencing this because i have not disabled my NVidia gpu please kindly provide me step wise instruction how to do it.

i read the link provided in step 4 about acpi patching etc.. i don't understand more than half of it. since we both have the same laptop with same specs i would be so grateful if u could provide step wise instruction on how to accomplish the above step.
thanks in advance.

i apologize....i have filled my profile again to the best of my understanding.

I am starting the process from first again, so from next time onwards i shall ensure to follow and attach the "problem reporting" protocol as per the forum rules.my sincerest apologies for the inconvenience caused.

These are the details of my laptop, (my laptop does not have a SSD)
Mobo: Dell inspiron 15-5577 (clover)
CPU: kabylake i5 -7300HQ/HM175 090HMC, 100 Series/C230
Graphics: Intel(R)HD 630+Nvidia geforce gtx 1050, 1920x1080
My DVMT-PREALLOC IS 128MB, (i checked by going to "change display settings"in controlpanel->display adaptor properties)
DVMT PRE-ALLOC.JPG

since maquedexiju and i have the same/similar laptop and i am trying to install 10.13.2,
plz provide me a config.plist file appropriate to my laptop taking into account of its specs, dvmt prealloc and dual gpu, so that it will get me to the installer screen.

I can tell you didn't read the FAQ.
IMPORTANT!: Contrary to many of the guides you will read, Windows is NOT a valid way to determine what DVMT-prealloc is set to. There is no correlation, especially with Windows 10.

Hey Guy,I wanna to mod my bios (the same laptop like you Dell 15 5577), but how can i do it? i already use the afuwinx64 to save my bios in local ,and how to mod it? Need help~~~

sorry for the late reply ... was busy with my exams.
I can tell you didn't read the FAQ.
on the contrary RehabMan I went through the FAQ s and at that time I didn't know any other way to check dvmt pre alloc, at present after scouring the internet I still haven't figured out a way to accurately determine my dvmt pre alloc using windows machine. (my edu..background is medicine so most of the in-depth tech stuff is very hard for me to understand. ).

any ways after searching a lot on the internet I extracted my BIOS, I shall attach the files here hopefully someone can tell my dvmt prealloc from that.

so this is what I did , I downloaded my Bios from the dell website,
-in cmd using the command "filename /writeromfile." I was able to extract from the bios.exe file
-then I opened the BIOS file using "UEFITool_0.22.4_win".
-Found the module labeled with Setup and extracted the PE32 image section and converted to text using Universal IFR Extractor.
I shall attach the BIOS file and converted IFR text file, please let me know my dvmt pre alloc if possible using the files, if not possible please direct me to a guide on how to check dvmt prealloc on a windows machine.

if my BIOS file can provide all the necessary answers please provide me a tailored config.plist for my laptop I would be very grateful
