Security Update 2017-005 10.11.6

I wonder if anyone tried to manually download this security update. I normally do manual downloads and install important updates myself and not from the App Store.

When I go to the Apple download site to download this thing, here : https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1945?locale=en_US

I find that the update is posted on "19 Jul 2017", but 2017-005 was released on 6 December. I am not sure if this is the "real" 2017-005 and I have not installed the security update on my older systems running El Capitan as a result.

And when I go to the MacOS section of the Apple download site, here : https://support.apple.com/en_US/downloads/macos

The 2017-005 El Capitan security update is not even listed. The most recent one listed is 2017-004. Strange.

Has anyone tried to use this file to install? Can anyone tell me what is going on here?

Downloaded the update from app store, ran it. Didn't remember to update clover and now it gets stuck on the apple logo, partially loads in safe mode and gets stuck.

How screwed am I?

update: I get the apple logo partially load in safe mode with the spinning rainbow cursor at the top left hand corner. What does that mean?

Update: Add verbose image. Will go through the big list of solutions to see if I can find anything.

Update: How do I do this?

Boot freezes on Apple logo, verbose shows only 2-3 lines
Typically ends with a row of pluses or Using reloc... no Hibernate... no

Update: Second image is the error I get from Recovery HD

Had the same issue, ended up having to restore from Time Machine. Plugged in the El Capitan USB I kept, booted from that via BIOS, then used Recovery from the resulting clover menu and was able to get to Time Machine. Still not certain what the root problem is - probably the aforementioned clover needing update? I'll try later and let you know if that fixes things.

Hm. I tried updating clover and it says it's already up to date. Version/revision 4369.

Aaaand now it's all working again? Got the security update installed just fine, updated Nvidia drivers and everything. No idea what changed since clover didn't seem to actually update. Only other thing I did was install each update separately. Sorry if that's not much help - hopefully your issue will magically fix itself like mine did.
