How to build your own iMac Pro [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

Sorry, that's true I don't have always enough time to read all long posts :p
But...
in few words:
I never used Nvidia C2070 but I know that GTX 580 etc are old cards..
I don't know your friend who make your installation, but
I never had problems with 2 or 3 monitors with GTX 9XX or GTX 10XX or Radeon R9/470/480 or others
and the same things is with my new Vega, but now I have only 2 monitors 1x 34" and 2nd 22"...

"my installer told me that it was a possible memory leak with the nVidia cards"
- it's depend your what you do ... your work etc
because for internet/video/audio simple Windows/OS X usage... no I don't think it was a memory problem :)
but if your usage was - pro programs/applications - yes... maybe it was that...

... btw... It was soooooo long time ago... so old hardware - is don't even worth to mention about that, and
you shouldn't build your experience with graphic cards... only because you had few problems with 3rd monitor etc
Today it's not the same technology, drivers, systems etc... so we have sometimes similar problems but
we shouldn't compare today with old things from almost 8 years ago (GTX 580 times - 2010-2011) :)

"both nVidia and AMD cards have their own issues" - ohh yes...thats 100% true :D

"BOTH AMD Vega Frontier cards are working fine for me now" - did you tried use Google Chrome few minutes, some Electron apps or even "build-in" photo editor... (take a desktop screenshot, open it, try to select everything with mouse and copy somewhere :D, this is always my first test, and always fail :p)

Ummmmm, I don't use Chrome; no need too. I use Safari and Firefox, but mainly Safari. I also don't use Electron (whatever that is). Also, I don't use Photo Editor (Only Photoshop and Lightroom). Haven't seen any failures with these apps that I use. Hope this helps.

Hey everyone, I just broke the GeekBench 60K record! :headbang::headbang::headbang::headbang::headbang:60,558!!! :headbang::headbang::headbang::headbang::headbang:Finally after about 3 years I finally (for now) have the GeekBench Hackintosh record using one CPU! Thanks again to...:clap: Clover King Chris and KGP !!!:clap:

I tried to do a LuxMark test and my 1,000 watt backup power supply gave out on me, but not before I reached 1,009 WATTS!!! I was wondering where that consistant beeeeeeeep was coming from. My CPU maxed out at 4.4GHz and never went above 54˚! I'm impressed with this thing. I wish my Backup Power Supply would handle more, but that's okay.

Now, once someone masters OC'ing the i9-7980XE CPU with the ASUS Prime X299-Deluxe board, then I'm sure we'll reach much better scores! I'm going to (later on) talk to the owner of RocketCool.com (who's the only Delidding company here in the USA) and see if he's having any success with OC'ing this bad boy. Man, I'm totally amped!!! I'm very grateful that this is working and performing like a champ!

I remember you from the EVGA SR-2 threads.
My EVGA SR-2 MB gave out about a couple months ago and I bought the GB AORUS Gaming 7 with the 12 core CPU.
I just came back from vacation.
What is and is not working on your motherboard?
If you have the GB TB3 AIC card installed, what are your BIOS settings and how did you do the firmware update that someone here was writing about?
Congrats to your Geekbench record!

Hi Sgunes. First I want to say, thanks for remembering me back in the SR-2 days. Too bad your system went out, but great to have a new system working again. To answer your question, I don't know what you mean by "GB" "TB3" or "AIC," but I can only tell you that my installer followed KGP's input almost to a T. The only main issue I had was sound, but he used the other file that KGP suggested (if the original one didn't work). Now sound on my Logitech Z5500 5.1 surround speakers are working just fine.

When it comes to using other motherboards and whatnot, I could've still used the Gigabyte AORUS 9 Gaming board, but I would've had continual problems with that board. Especially after almost three years of going through headaches; not worth it. The only thing that I encourage people to do now if they're following a post like this, is to just do what KGP is doing. Even if you have to dismantle things and sell them in order to get the correct equipment. That's what KGP did (and he had to do it twice - LOL), and I had to do it FOUR times, till I finally got it right.

You know what they say (or at least what I say), "3rd times a charm, 4th time is... how come you didn't listen the 3rd time?"

Congrats, man!

Questions:

a) Could you please provide a short paragraph with some instructions how to properly setup the AMD Vega Frontier, thus I could implement such paragraph in Section E.2) - Graphics Configuration for all other Vega Frontier users? However, I guess like the Vega 64, also the Vega Frontier is natively implemented and runs OoB, correct?

b.) Could you please provide your ASUS Prime X299 Deluxe BIOS and especially CPU BIOS settings to reach 60,588 scores in Geekbench?

Thanks in advance,

KGP

Hey Everyone! Just wanted to give you the great news. I have decided to gut my system and go with a new setup. Here are the specs (using the same Origin PC Case):

Motherboard : ASUS Prime X299-Deluxe
RAM: 64GB GSkill TridentZ RGB (F4-3600C17Q-64GTZR) - "Non-Approved" RAM that works anyway - LOL!
CPU: 1 x i9-7980XE (Water Blocked)
GPU: 2 x AMD Radeon Vega Frontier Edition 16GB
PSU: EVGA 1600 T2
Monitors: 3 x Asus MG28UQ 28" 4K

I will have new pics to replace the ones you're seeing now up soon. For now I'm going to continue installing and rebuilding my new setup and when I'm done (in 4 to 6 weeks) I will then post my new pics. In the mean time...

I also did a Cinebench score of OpenGL 59.78 fps / CPU 4292 cb !!!

Btw, I will probably building the 8700K pretty soon, haha :mrgreen::mrgreen:

I sold my old 7700K with that great idea :p Buy Z370 mobo later
and make another build with CoffeeLake CPU :D
but in my PC - I will take i5-8400 (6c/6t) it's the best choice price/power
(or even best of the best price/power i3-8100, but maybe not enough power for me) :)
Then we can always change to 8700/8700K in the future...

My Vega 64 works very well with all other programs/apps etc etc
but I can't say it's stable, because I don't use Chrome/Electron Apps/or build in Photo editor... :p
so please try Google Chrome few minutes or build in photo editor with selection of whole image /cut/copy sth... ;)

If you use 10.13.1 or older OS X version you should have that known freeze ...
BTW: "Congratulation" :p for 60K geekbench record !

I think you will reach 64-65k soon... :D
when @kgp and few others with your beast 7980XE
will start OC, I'm sure we will see next world records :headbang:

Me too. Try sleeping and waking back the sys one time to see if it helps. In my case, it would help reduce the lag. And I can see the cpu frequency responses more quickly due to system actions, like moving mouse over the dock, scrolling down a long post in Safari, resizing Safari window, even opening Adobe Apps.

At leats I can confirm the lag being present under 10.13.1.

For those who don't know what kind of lag is meant (beside the ones mentioned by Bagi1992):

1. Open two Finder windows.
2. Highlight first window
3. now click on the second window and drag at the same time. You'll see a slight lag until dragging jumps to "smooth"
