No Audio Devices - AppleHDA Realtek Audio

Reason: Audio ID/layout-id = 0
Fix: EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/patched/SSDT-HDEF-ALZA-1.aml, installed
Problem: boot log
Code:
5:656 0:000 Unsorted
5:656 0:000 Inserting SSDT.aml from EFI\CLOVER\ACPI\patched ... Success
5:656 0:000 Inserting SSDT-NVMe-extern-icon-patch.aml from EFI\CLOVER\ACPI\patched ... Success
5:656 0:000 CPUBase=0 and ApicCPUBase=0 ApicCPUNum=16

Clover is not loading: SSDT-HDEF-ALZA-1.aml

Is there another EFI partition?

If it was loading, would not work:
Remove config.plist/ACPI/DSDT/Patches/Item 0 (change AZAL to HDEF)

edit config.plist, confirm SSDT-HDEF-ALZA-1.aml is loading
Reply with new files.

Hi toleda,

thanks a lot for your help.

(Additional question: Is it at any point of installation changes (add kext to efi folder, add drivers64, add patch, change config) neccessary to do tasks like clear any cache or do something else?)

I removed ACPI patch in config.plist, SSDT-HDEF-ALZA-1.aml loading success
Still no audio devices.
New files attached.

Still no audio devices
Still did not fix Audio ID = 0 problem
DPCI Bootlog #2.pdf is unreadable, attach .txt file
What audio method is installed?
See Post #1/Tools/5. Property List Editors, do not use a text editor for .plists
remove:
config.plist/Devices/Inject
config.plist/Devices/Properties
Restart, reply with new files.

What is the audio device HD Native?
Can it be removed for an experiment?

HD Native is a PCIe card that I use for audio processing on Avid Pro tools. I can definitely take it out but it used to work fine when I had this machine run with Yosemite (to clarify I didn't update, I started from scratch with a new SSD). I'll do that in a few and send you the files to see if we find something different.

Yes and No. Function wise, not necessary. However, if you want a singed AppleHDA.kext, yes.
Okay, so some good news and bad news, and a very complicated process I went through.
I tried to remove any previous methods and start from a fresh slate but in doing so, the audio codecs went back to being undetected again so I scrapped trying to approach that method.

I instead got the machine back to its form as per the last set of files I sent you. I then (using the guide you'd attached) installed the AppleALC.kext and Lilu.kext. This is after having checked all the parameters etc to ensure everything is in place.

And I HAVE AUDIO. Now this is where it gets interesting...I have installed Lilu in accordance to the guide and so its in EFI/Clover/Kexts/Other but my other kexts have all been installed in L/E, is it okay to do this with these two?

I have attached all the files I could attach from your original post. I have also added in screenshots of the .kexts that are in L/E so you can look for any potential clashes in kexts. This is also because I have had to undergo this method twice, after having restarted the first time, I found that suddenly a lot of the audio outputs were missing and then after restarting a second time, I now had lost the audio codecs as well. So I have gotten the method working and decided to produce all the necessary files in case the audio goes again.

If it does, I will post again with new files as a comparison.

Thanks for all the help and fingers crossed...

So after having restarted, this time round its all working okay again. Thank you very much for the full and final working solution. :)

Please redirect me if this isn't the place to ask but;
- I would like to be able to 'tidy' up any kexts that don't need to be running or have them all in L/E if that means they will work better?
- My motherboard specifically also happens to have a switch to activate 'specific audio power' rather than drawing it from the motherboard. It's currently turned off but was originally on before the update to High Sierra, is it possible again to make this switch or is it likely to cause more issues?

Use the installer to tidy up

No idea
What do you mean by use the installer to tidy up? Which installer?

And ive also now started up the computer again and have now found that some of the outputs are missing from the system preferences. Do you need the new files again? :(

How do these tidy it up? Just out of curiosity? Do they combine the kexts all into the L/E folder in the appropriate manner?

And here they are. Weird thing is that I can't see any differences myself in any of the items...

I have noticed one unusual thing is that DPCI manager is recognising certain PCI controllers as Xeon rather than Haswell like the remainder of the system is doing.
