@Rulebreaker01

I have a new challenge for you :D

I was able to go up from 41000 to about 44500 points:

new%20score.jpg

Therefore I only had to delid my CPU:

Put some liquid metal on the die:

Fix the whole thing with silicon again:

Put it back into the PC:

And enjoy, how "cool" the new setup is (it is up to 20 degrees colder now):

The cores run now with:

8 cores at 4.7 Ghz with 1.27V
2 cores at 4.8 Ghz with 1.27V

Temp max is about 85 degrees. In idle I am below 35 degrees. Really nice!

Do it on your own risk, though ;-)

You have won my friend, lol,
I have 8 cores at 4.8 (1.27V), 2 at 4.7 (1.237) and here is the score

I love your scores (both) :headbang:
flymovies delided his CPU so we don't have to worry about him but you? :) Did you call fire truck or it was not so bad with your temperatures? :D :p

PS: I'm still very interested with bios details with your (both) configuratios :) like AVX, AVX512 -did you used more than 1? and other things like offset's etc etc :p

I have my CPU delidded from Silicon Lottery

https://siliconlottery.com/collections/skylake-x/products/7900x47g

and EKWB Extreme 360 Starter Water Cooling Kit,

Here is my build look like,

IMG_6549.png

My temp when I close the side with 100% CPU stress test stable at 102 after 7 hours, never crash,

The AVX and AVX 512 I set at 1,

my RAM at 3600,

Corsair DOMINATOR Platinum 32GB (4x8GB) DDR4 3600 (PC4-28800) C16 for Intel 100 Series CMD32GX4M4B3600C16

If you wanna load up my profile setting, make sure you adjust the RAM voltage, DRAM Timing control match with yours spec,

Have fun!

I have the 7960X CPU so I have changed the <key>IOCPUNumber</key> to 31 which I think is correct as that CPU has 32 threads, the file is in the CLOVER/kexts/other folder on the SSD and the USB.
I am not super quick by the way, I had already found my EFI folder issue and had started rebuilding the media before I saw your first reply. You are right, it takes more than five minutes!

Am I right in thinking though, that is is correct that there is a folder called EFI in the EFI partition? I had everything in the root folder to begin with, but now I have an EFI folder with CLOVER and BOOT in that?

I think the problem maybe that I am doing the SSD part wrong somehow, but I cannot work out what I am doing wrong.

I have the SSD drive in a USB adaptor and have formatted it using 'diskutil eraseDisk JHFS+ SSD /dev/disk2' from my MAC laptop as I did with the USB, but when I come to run clover and choose the SSD as the destination the options are different to when preparing my USB.

It allows me to select Install for UEFI booting only and Install Clover in the ESP, the relevant drivers and the theme OK, but Install RC Scripts on the target volume is greyed out. It says the target volume must be a bootable OSX system volume.
I have continued anyway, and the SSD does seem to boot if I choose it as a boot device, but I am now stuck at:

OsxAptioFix2Drv: Starting overrides for \.IABootFiles\boot.efi
Using relic block: no, hibernate wake: no
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The command you use for formatting the SSD is simply wrong!

Again my guide clearly states: diskutil partitionDisk /dev/diskX 1 GPT jhfs+ "High Sierra" R

If you post each time a question instead of reading we will end up with a second edition of the guide, which should definitely not be our aim...

Hey KGP.

I've been on these forums for years and I have to say, this guide is the best I've seen. Not only is the process outlined, you've also provided multiple options at certain points and also explained error prevention. Incredible learning resource. Thanks so much.

I've decided to copy your build for audio production, probably overkill but it'll last me a long time.

One quick question for you:

Considering I'm going to match your hardware (except I will skip Thunderbolt and I use an external audio interface and hence need not 'fix' it) - what steps do I need to follow in your guide?

I'll obviously be using your EFI and so many steps will be unnecessary. But I notice that inside that EFI folder there is the IntelMausi kext, and yet your guide recommends AppleIGB for the network. I also assume I'd need to run Pike's speedstep generator as your patched folder is empty.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks again for your epic efforts.

I really advice to precisely follow and carefully study my guide from A to Z. There is not really anything to be skipped, apart from Thunderbolt related implementations in your case or things you might know already.

Note that the distributed EFI-Folder is incomplete, even in case of identical hardware settings. Several things which cannot be generalised and vary from build to build, need to be set, configured and implemented subsequently during the system configuration process!

A carefully reading of the entire guide is unavoidable.

Can we just simply update? I am afraid to press the update button :lol: I still have so many work on my computer

Well... yet it is recommended to Enable SIP for the Web Driver Update/Installation, which is also what I did!

Yes - it makes sense now. I did read that section several times, but the first line:
"If you need to do format an APFS-disk with HFS+, use one of the following workarounds:"
made me think it was not relevant to me as my disk has never been APFS.
I have now realised that I can still use the same command regardless.

Sorry to be thick kpg, it is an amazing resource and I am really looking forward to getting up and running with it and certainly value your help. Thank you.
