Update Directly to macOS High Sierra

In case it helps anyone else:
  • Needed to remove the HWSensors from /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/10.12 before the install would proceed, this is possibly because they were old from sourceforge. I think the latest are https://github.com/kozlek/HWSensors/releases but I have not yet tested
  • Went back into the Boot macOS Install option a second time before the Install actually proceeded

So i can't be clear about whether or not we need to manually disconnect our Nvidia cards prior to performing the install, or if we can leave them connected?

no need, just disable in bios the intel graphics. the problem is that install recognises the onboard video + pci Nvidia as dual cards, that causes:
Window Server Service only ran for 0 seconds.

I have NVMe but I was not able to run it after a successful update ..I think my old hackrnvme clashed up . and once you mess up its not possible to go back into system files to change or remove the kext that might have caused a problem when we go back from the old clone backup..APFS system files are hidden ..I am trying again now but hard I hope I can format APFS drive NVMe back to HFS and re clone my old Sierra back and then try again to update. Its annoying right now.

Hello

Thanks for your notes. Did you solve the issue? I’m currently traveling so no risk for me ringet tempted to run the upgrade but once back home....

i have followed the steps, but high sierra restarts before beginning install which takes me to the clover boot screen where i HAVE to choose boot from macintosh which is my ssd with the OSX install and im back to the same thing, nothing. im i missing something here? i literally just done a clean install of sierra cus i had some issues, the multibeast i used it is installing clover v2.4k r4173, this is correct right?
probably the same error as post #461

Thanks Again!! - Easiest upgrade yet. Only thing that didn't work was audio after, but thanks to Toleda's ALC1150 fix I was able to get it back going.

What is your set up? im re installing sierra so i can try and update it as doing a fresh install of HS has failed for me.
i7 6700k, Gigabyte z170x-ud3, 980ti, m.2 ssd
I did the APFS option, and it went really smooth.

Updated from El Capitan with no issues. Only had to reinstall my 892 audio.

Oh and for some reason the App Store only downloaded a 19MB file instead of the entire image of High Sierra. Had to use a program to download it.

I updated my system to 10.13 (needed to update my audio with @Toledo and now it works fine).
But after sleeping the monitor doesn't turn on. With 10.12 worked perfectly. :(
