Hello there, so I'm updating my hack from 10.12.2 to 10.13, following this thread https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/update-directly-to-macos-high-sierra.232707/

I've done everything, updated clover, copied the kexts to the 'others' folder(updated the FakeSMC.kext), placed the APFS.EFI file to the drivers64UEFI folder, the ran the update app, and after reboot, on clover it doesn't show the 'Boot macOS Install' option, im not sure whats going on, im attaching my boot options.

To troubleshoot this so far I did a 'diskutil list' on terminal right before the update asks for reboot, and it shows the InstallESD partition mounted as an image, not sure if thats how it is supposed to be.

after reboot my boot options are 'Boot macOS', 'Boot macOS from recovery HD' and 'Boot macOS Recovery'

My SSD have a 'Virtual partition' not sure whats that about, but im attaching my 'diskutil List' as well for good measure.

Upon choosing 'Boot macOS From Macintosh SSH' the os starts up normally as if nothing happened.

[edit]

Also this thread, appear to be the same problem as mine, there was the other guy that didnt update clover, but im pretty sure I did, it shows 4220 in the corner.

Attach image of your Clover bootloader screen.

Also, maybe you should build a USB according to the guide:

I did attached some in the first message, but im attaching another because I think you wanna see the version number right?

Also, that USB method, I can update that way? or just fresh install? I mean, If I choose my macOS partition at install time it would count as an update?

Try USB prepared according to the guide.
Yes, you can update that way (no matter what, you're booting the installer).

OH MY GAWD, so let me tell you the current situation.
I created the usb drive as usual, then tried to boot up the installer, it Kernel Panic me at graphics injection, I belive the MiniStolen size patch needs to be updated for High Sierra, but anyway, I disabled graphics injection and managed to boot the installer, so I did just that, selected my Disk and proceeded with the update.

But after like 8 minutes it prompted me to reboot, and after that, at the Clover screen there was no Boot macOS Install, so I imagined "The update will proceed with my next normal boot" so I disabled graphics injection again, and picked 'Boot macOS from Macintosh SSH' and guess what? I booted to my Sierra install again!

Jeez, what Is going on here.

Got any other hints for me mr Rehab men please?

[edit]

man, I just need it to use xcode 9, but now I was checking to see what would be the 'colateral damage', so IntelBacklight.kext no longer works, man, your new tutorial for enabling brightness is so overwhelming, and it requires DSDT changes, I don't even know where my most recent AML files are, aah why I never put them somewhere safe...
Im almost opting for a clean install.

As per guide, you must use invalid ig-platform-id if you require framebuffer patches.
Activating framebuffer patches is a post-install task.

Did you forget apfs.efi? (assuming SSD, conversion to APFS).

Implementing backlight is quite easy. No DSDT patches required, just SSDT-PNLF.aml.

If your system is that messed up, it is probably a good idea.

I did not forget APFS.efi, and my hack is not messed up, it is running quite well actually, but I'm on 10.12.2 since February, and I need to update to use Xcode 9, it works on 10.12.6 but c'mon, here we GO ALL or GO HOME, but I actually found my patched AML files, it was on a folder on the desktop named 'desktop', go figure, however I think I'll go with a fresh install and restore the backup from the image I made from my drive if you don have any other ideas of why is this happening.

You know what I think, I Belive my problem here is that, the High Sierra updater App, is just mounting a virtual image and telling the firmware where it is, instead of making a literal bootable installer partition, because I use a very recent SMBIOS, maybe a older one might have different effects. Do you think this is a possibility or Am I out of my mind?
