Clover does not install on EFI Partition of HS

Wrong. EFI is still there, as is the case with all GPT partitioned disks by Disk Utility.
Good to know, thanks for correcting me. Still curious what the future looks like in terms of installing clover, as my understanding is clover can't currently mount EFI on APFS disks. Which seems to leave me in the weird place of installing clover to root partition and either (a) changing ?something? ?bios? so that boot succeeds (thinking that UEFI boot looks to EFI partition?) or (b) copy/move to EFI partition.

I guess questions to be answered in time.

Your firmware will not be able to read the root partition. Use the fat EFI partition macOS creates for you.

The mounting script inside Clover needs revising.

Install the latest FakeSMC Check FakeSMC is latest and boot with verbose output, uninstall ethernet kexts you are not using.

nailed it down to be a problem with my config.plist
If i am using the one i have used on my USB disk the system boots up fine.
So i did a bit of testing and found out it has to do with my values in the ACPI segment.
I do need USB re directing for my board. As soon i enter one of the values in the ACPI table the system slows down on boot.
Well at least i am closer i will to some more checking tonight.
So the kexts i have used are all fine at least !

Some people have reported needing to drop a table "MATS" in order to boot at all, maybe see if you have that one.

well I have almost figured it out.
The Problem is the kernel patch for the trim support.
As soon I apply it boot tie is up to 3 min.
Deleting it brings back fast booting of about 40 sec.
The rest of the system is all up and running.
working:
-network
-sound
- sleep
-all usb and bluetooth
- i Message

so far very happy just need to get this trim thing worked out.

Thanks for your help
