I'm trying the patcher but don't know which one to select for laptop.
DPCI Manager shows : 0x80869D71 : 0x10251094 : 0x10EC0255. Codename is unknown.

Can you patch this via clover ?

You need to get a codec dump from Linux to be sure.
But from what you show above, it is Realtek ALC255 (0x10ec0255).

Hi @RehabMan,

By the way AppleBacklight is working. Battery is working

for sound, do I really need to install linux to get this ?

Under windows, Realtek High definition audio > properties>Details> Hardware Ids =
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0255&SUBSYS .....

Is this not enough ?

What is best audio guide:
- use clover injection ?
- or do I need to patch the kext ?

You would need a full codec dump if you want to start customizing pathmaps, or CodecCommander configuration.
But if you just want to try existing patched AppleHDA components, it is clear you have Realtek ALC255.
0x10ec is Realtek.
And 0x0255 is ALC255.

I'm not sure why VoodooHDA is not working. @jackharvest had his audio working on VoodooHDA2.8.8

Pathmaps and codecCommander is beyond me and it would probably take me a while to come to understand all the stuff and what to do.

I would settle for AppleHDA patch , so I just need to add the id's to the plist if I remember correctly

What would pathmaps /codecCommander give me that AppleHDA would not ?

Use Mirone's AppleHDA patcher.

Use Mirone's AppleHDA patcher.

I started looking at his patcher, great work, but the guide is not very clear. so I'm scratching my head a bit :banghead:

For example, it says you use a vanilla appleHDA.kext and not the one from your current OS. A link to a vanilla the kext would be very useful. I'm sure I cannot just use any old AppleHDA.kext ?

Vanilla AppleHDA.kext *is* the kext installed by the macOS installer.

@RehabMan,

I used the AppleHDA patcher with the clover patch method.

Did not drag any file files onto the application. I just selected the patch button and it generate a folder under Desktop/MironeAudio

Made changes to the Clover/config and copied the aDummyHDA.kext to Clover/kexts/other.

Reboot. Still no sound device under systemPreferences/Sound.

Not sure what I'm missing ?
