[Guide] HP ProBook/EliteBook/Zbook using Clover UEFI hotpatch (10.11)

It rebooted back to clover screen without osx installed on HDD I'm afraid. Will try again! :)

Kernel logs are handled via new mechanism in 10.12.
By "kernel logs" I mean the log output created by the kernel and kernel extensions.
The way you access the kernel logs depends on macOS/OS X version.

First time you mention "new motherboard".
I checked your ioreg. Problem is obvious. You have no Intel MEI device on the PCIe bus. It is a hardware/firmware issue.

Damn, Intel ME actually makes a difference in Mac OS? I'm going to look into fixing this. Any idea if Intel ME firmware is located in the bios chip in the 8470P? I wonder if creating a backup image of the bios on the old mobo and restoring it on the new one would work... Or even removing the bios chip from the old board and swapping it. I'm a hardware guy after all, not so much a software guy.

Yes. macOS and OS X require Intel MEI.
The usual result without it is that QE doesn't work and boot is long because the graphics drivers are waiting for AppleIntelMEIDriver to show up, and of course without the IMEI device present, the driver never starts.

I don't know the details of MEI firmware (eg. where it is stored, etc).
But usually a BIOS update will flash MEI firmware during the process of updating.
There are also standalone MEI flasher programs around...

Note also that IMEI is not present on ES/QS CPUs.

While trying to boot the El Cap installer prepared as per the guide, I'm getting a KP in AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext. The last message on the screen before that appears is:

P-State Stepper Error at Step 35 in context 2 on CPU 0

I've disabled any option I can find in the BIOS with "Power" in the description. BIOS is updated to latest version available from HP, the specified options in the guide have been de-selected, and UEFI boot has been enabled. In order to boot from the USB stick, in the BIOS boot menu I have to manually specify "Boot from EFI file", then select BOOTX64.EFI or CLOVERX64.EFI.

Laptop specs:

HP Probook 6460b (QM67 chipset)
Intel i7-2640M @ 2.8Ghz
6GB DDR3-1333
500GB 7200RPM HD
1366x768 14" LCD
Intel HD 3000 graphics
Intel Centrino Advanced Wireless-N

Isn't there a FakeCPUPowerManagement.kext file somewhere? Would that get around the problem?

Before I commit to installing OS X, I've left a dual-boot Windows/Linux MBR setup reside on the HD. I want to get the installer bootable, at which point I'll swap in a 320GB hard drive and see if I can get OS X working. I'll also try putting in a OS X compatible WiFi chip at that point. Oddly enough, even though there are no legacy/CSM/Hybrid boot options in the BIOS, the system still boots even though it's MBR. Perhaps because I'm using GRUB.

I thought that the regular bios updater on the 70p's updated the ME firmware, since it mentioned about not being able to roll back due to a security change (and from what I've read on Intel ME 8, apparently you can't roll back). I checked in Windows, the Intel ME device doesn't show up, so I can't have it check what version ME firmware it is (so I'm assuming there is none). I'm going to look into standalone MEI flashing, or pulling it out of my old mobo. I have a feeling that the Bios chip might've been replaced on this board before I bought it. Dammit ebay...

I assume there's no way to run OSX without the AppleIntelMEIDriver, or any way to spoof it.

I've installed Sierra 10.12.4 on my HP 8470P today. I did exactly what instructed by the guide but still got this error. The screen hang on this stage for a minute then it boot into login screen. Graphic is very laggy for use even Graphic Card was 1.5GB.
I was on 10.12.2 before and did have this error. Should I go to 10.12.2?
No sound and got this error too:

Read the guide carefully. You likely need "alternate DropTables".
