[Guide] HP ProBook/EliteBook/Zbook using Clover UEFI hotpatch (10.11)

Status

Hi RehabMan,

I reinstalled "El Capitan" from the apple store, and followed the guide of this thread.

I discovered something: When I boot Clover in resolution 1600x900, The flicker of my screen in "El Capitan" disappears !

Unfortunately, the flicker reappears when the computer wakes from sleep (or the screen goes to sleep)

Does this issue ring the bell ?

Thanks !!

Attached problem report files.

Which "flicker" are you referring to?

Hey ACPIBatteryManager.kext cause crash on ActivityMonitor (10.12.4). Temporary solution: The issue causes the Energy Tab, so go to the users/Library/Preferences/com.apple.ActivityMonitor.plist and change the SelectedTab value to 0,1,3,4 not 2, which is the Energy tab (I copy the solution here http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/322196-macos-sierra-10124-is-out/page-2#entry2393652)

It is in the 10.12 pinned thread.

Let me investigate with windows ,another thing is the discrete graphics it is still very active can see it in system info-graphics, files are here

Need files in ACPI/origin. You forgot to press F4 in Clover...

Edit: Figured out the information I needed from the patchmatic -extract files...
Try with current repo.
Changes are to SSDT-HACK and using SSDT-RP01_PXSX_RDSS instead of SSDT-RP01_PEGP_RDSS.

I've gone through the instructions twice to install Sierra on my 8470p with Intel graphics, and while the machine runs perfectly once booted, the boot process is VERY slow. It takes about a minute twenty to get from Clover to the desktop.

The machine is an 8470p with an i7-3520m, 16gb Corsair ram, Intel HD 4000 graphics, and a Sandisk 512gb SSD. Bios is the latest version. CPU seems to be hitting all the p-states. I tested with and without TRIM enabled in clover, and by using Trimforce instead, that didn't change anything. Boot does run fsck every time, but according to it's log it's finished in a second or less. Verbose mode hangs for a long time after installGTK shows up.

I've attached the files as per Rehabman's instructions in case anyone can help.

Don't use trimforce (your kextcache output shows you have).
Some SSDs may not work well with any trim enabler.
You should also check that you have current firmware on your SSD.
I have no Sandisk SSDs, so cannot comment on their compatibility or incompatibility.

For some reason, you have no config.plist in the files you provided, even though your Clover bootlog shows config.plist present in EFI/Clover. Seems like you didn't really attach the actual EFI/Clover you're using. Therefore not really possible to tell if you followed the guide properly.

Maybe you should try a different SSD.

With Trim disabled via both trimforce and clover, the computer still takes 1:17 to boot from Clover. Benchmarks stayed roughly the same. I previously used this SSD on Yosemite and El Capitan without any issue. I will check the firmware (Edit: I'm on the latest firmware already). I will stop using Trimforce, if the preferred method is to enable it through config.plist.

Sorry, I must have accidentally unselected it when I zipped it, probably trying not to include the Themes. Here's another EFI zip with the plist included, straight from my EFI partition.

Maybe you should try a different SSD.

I don't have another SSD to try without erasing stuff, but I have a 1tb 2.5" drive. I'll try that and report back.

*edit* I forgot to be polite. RehabMan, thanks so much for all your help and effort within the Hackintosh community, your work has personally benefitted me greatly.

You should try the 'beta' branch.
And you should check your kernel log to see what is taking a long time during boot.
