Hi,

Not sure if this has already been done, but I came across this awesome post on LifeHacker which tells you how to enable AirDrop for your Hackintosh and any unsupported macs you may own :

http://lifehacker.com/5939804/enable-airdrop-over-ethernet-even-on-unsupported-macs-and-hackintoshes

Type in to Terminal :

defaults write com.apple.NetworkBrowser BrowseAllInterfaces 1

then restart the Finder :

killall Finder

I tried this today and it works a treat!

Sorry if this has already been posted.

Jamie.

great, big thanks man! didn't know it was so easy to enable it ;)

saved my day

That code wreaked havoc on my mountain lion install. My menubar was inaccessable, and I counldnt drag items at all. redid the code with 0 and restarted and all was well again...

For anyone having trouble with airdrop, anysend has proved a great alternative.

Thanks for this tip! It has sort of worked. Airdrop shows up now and on my Hackintosh (which is connected over Ethernet), I can see my MacBook Pro (on wi-fi), but on my MBP, I can't see my Hackintosh unless I send a file. I also just updated to iOS 7 on my iPad, and I can't see my iPad on either of my computers, or my computers on my iPad.

Does anyone know how I can fix this? Thanks!

Hi,

tried this on my Hack and no Joy, runing as system def Mac Pro 3,1 does that make a diff?

I tried once to change it to 5,1 but it just KP'd on me any suggestions ?
for wifi i have

Card Type: AirPort Extreme (0x168C, 0x3112)
Firmware Version: Atheros 9380: 4.0.74.0-P2P

and Bluetooth i have

Manufacturer: Broadcom
Chipset: 20702A3
Firmware Version: v14 c4096
thanks in advance

I have tried what @SJamG said and it worked up to the point where i was able to see the AirDrop tag on the sidebar of finder. But i'm still not capable of seeing any of my devices, or sharing anything (Not detected by my devices either).

Any help is appreciated.

I did the steps and no lucky

I'm using a TP-Link TL-WN881ND wifi card and a USB Bluetooth 4.0 dongle (I don't remember the brand, but it works great!)

I can't pair my iPhone 6 (shows that is incompatible) to my hack and also i cant transfer files by AirDrop. The unusual thing is, my Bluetooth works good to pair my other things as my Motorola XT1097 that I could transfer files from my hack, and i also have a PS4 Joystick, that pairs and works great as well...

NOTE: The Bluetooth USB dongle works plug and play on El Capitan, i had not to install any kext..

Any help?

My airdrop problems and other continuity stuffs resolved after configuring the iMessage properly with good S/N. Take a look at iMessage guide. (On Sierra)

Hi,

Could you please give more explanation about how you solved this problem?

Thank you.
