[Guide] HP ProBook/EliteBook/Zbook using Clover UEFI hotpatch (10.11)

Status
Not open for further replies.
added SSDT-BATT-G4.aml now battery is working...changed SSDT-IGPU to inject AAPL,GfxYTile don't know whether I did it as it is supposed to done ,glitches seems to have disappeared, about brightness I have always to decrease after every boot or restart ,volume notification in menu bar doesn't work unless its changed manually ,though those are not big issues or problems... here are the files when I boot without USB

Brightness issue is an NVRAM problem. As per guide, with your hardware, you generally need EmuVariableUefi-64.efi in drivers64UEFI. You didn't install it... And don't forget the "RC scripts".

There are some additional AppleHDA patches that I found in AppleALC, but I left them disabled in the config.plist so we could decide which ones are actually needed. You might try to enable them and see how that affects your volume issue.

FYI: Repo updated with the changes I mentioned yesterday (key102, installing BATT-G4, GfxYTile inject, etc).

Note: Other things to test...
- sleep
- HDMI audio/video
- USB (still need to do USB customization process)
- brightness keys?

Hello, I read these lines in the guide posted by Rehabman:
If you have a "mixed" system (HD3000 on 7-series), the PBI-CE installed MacBookPro9,2 SMBIOS and two kexts, either AppleGraphicsPowerManagement_MacBookPro9_2.kext and ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin_MacBookPro9_2.kext or AppleGraphicsPowerManagement_MacBookPro10_1.kext and ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin_MacBookPro10_1.kext. With the new method for USB patching, these hacks are not needed. You should use an SMBIOS appropriate for your CPU (MacBookPro8,2) and delete these kexts.

Does this mean if I have a Probook 4540s with Intel i5 HD3000 on 7-series, the MacBookPro8,2 SMBIOS should be used? I used the 9,2 SMBIOS with the PBI-CE in the past.

Yes.

We used to use MacBookPro9,2 so that USB3 would work well with XHC->XHC1 patch and a bunch of other patches to do XHCI routing to EHCI the way it is done on a real MacBookPro9,2. But that method stopped working on 10.11.

But with FakePCIID_XHCIMux.kext, we don't need those patches for XHC, therefore we can use the SMBIOS that better matches the CPU instead of the XHC chipset.

Hello and thanks for the great guide RehabMan,

I have successfully installed 10.11.6 OS X El Capitan using this guide to my 4730s Probook. I have removed the actions of ./install_downloads.sh cause it caused radical graphical glitches to my hd3000. Although without any of the installed kexts by the step ./install_downloads.sh my graphic experience is more smooth without apparent glitches (except when minimising safari :( )

So i am interested only on making work the following:
  • As smooth as possible graphics (Don't know if thats the smoothest it can be)
  • Working keyboard (My keys are little messed up)
  • Working sound (No matter what i do i can't get any sound, i even installed voodooHDA from Multicast (all three versions) but with no luck)
So please can anyone take a loot at my attachment (as described in the first post) and help me a little bit?

PS. I followed every other step of the process to the letter, providing the necessary DSDT/SSDT patches to clover
PS.
My 4730s characteristics are:
  • i5 2450M
  • 4096 RAM
  • Intel HD3000
  • 1600x900 screen resolution

Cheers

You have the wrong config.plist.
Follow the guide as written.
Read it carefully.

UPDATE: after booting with no caches and rebuilding kext cache the FN buttons work just fine... As for the glitches i switched from Safari to Chrome and as far no freezes are observed

Hah that was really fast from your side (KUDOS), and really careless by my side ( I placed the config file pointed by the guide how to create the installation usb - really careless).

So i placed/configed the proper config and repeated the ./install_downloads.sh and now i have sound Hurrayyyyy :)

Still the fn+ buttons like volume rising/lowering and brightness are not triggering anything (although brightness bar in display prefs has appeared and works). If it is not too much trouble and you have an idea it is more than welcomed. (UPDATE)

Also the glitches with safari (maybe other apps too) that the whole Desktop gets frozen continue, any thought on that (e.g. attached picture of frozen Desktop) (UPDATE)

PS. Attached are the updated file as of post #1

Once again thanks for the immediate response
Cheers

Brightness/volume keys are without Fn by default. You can change it in SysPrefs->Keyboard if you wish.

Your config.plist is still wrong. For some reason you set DropOem=true, which is not correct. The provided files set DropOem=false.

I setted to true cause at installation process (with the corresponding guide) with false i got kp "P-state Stepper Error 18 at Step 2 in context 2". I thought this was a must for Sandy Bridge CPUs as mine. But i ll revert it to false.

Once again thanks

See guide regarding "alternate DropTables". Must read everything carefully. DropOem=true is the wrong solution. "alternate DropTables" is the corerct solutin.

Note: Your profile is not filled out correctly. Neither your profile or signature contains details on your laptop.... Please fix as per FAQ and guide.
