It crashes the laptop if the OS is up and running

Try adding this patch to config.plist/KernelAndKextPatches/KextsToPatch:

Thanks RehabMan. I'm working right now but will get it tested as soon as I can and let you know. Much appreciated.

Hi RehabMan. I absolutely love running MacOS Sierra 10.12.3 on my HP ProBook 430 G2, so much so that I am no longer dual booting with Windows! However I am currently being plagued with an issue of temperamental audio where it will not work until I reboot, but sometimes up to 3 or 4 times - there is seemingly no pattern. I have managed to capture all of the files that you request for trouble shooting during both a time that it has and hasn't been working, and I have zipped all of these up and attached them as requested. So far I have tried the pre-patch-hda.sh script however that doesn't seem to have done the trick. Any advice?

Use pre-patch_hda.sh as per post #1, "Known Problems", "Audio".
Or set config.plist/Devices/Audio/ResetHDA=true

If that doesn't help, no idea...

Hi again - OK, I tried both of the patches above, on their own and together but unfortunately there's still no Displayport output and switching the display on or off or connecting / reconnecting the cable causes a crash.
I did lose my sound with those patches in place though, so something changed and maybe we're close? Restoring my original config.plist has got things back to the way they were (with sound).
I'm happy to test anything you suggest and if you need any more info just let me know.
Heading in to work soon so may not be able to get back to this until the weekend.
Thanks again for taking the time to look at this for me. Hoping the answer is out there somewhere.

Sounds like you didn't enter the patches correctly.
Provide "Problem Reporting" files for each test case.

OK, will do. Just run out of time right now. Attached is my config.plist with just the second patch in it in case there's any obvious problems with that. Thanks.

It looks fine. But this patch will not affect audio...
