A GTX 740 or a GTX 980 shouldn't make much, if any, difference in regards to the installation process. I suspect something else is wrong.

I suspected that too, until it worked flawlessly in Win10. What is your suspicion?

Maybe you can try the following:

1. Boot in to your system using HD 530.
2. Enable screen sharing.
3. Reboot with GTX 740.
4. Connect to computer via screen sharing.
5. Install and enable Nvidia web drivers.
6. Reboot.

Also, are you connecting your monitor via VGA connector?

I did that 1- 6 procedure (as I've been in IT and QA for years, but years ago). :) However, I *am* connecting it via the DVI-to-VGA adapter and I've suspected that may be an issue, but on the test bench where I'm doing this, I just have the VGA display. Your questioning it gives more priority to my original questioning to make that my next test case. I'll pull one of my DVI displays from another room. Have you heard that's a definite problem anywhere (just curious)?

VGA is from the stone age - it was around with the floppy disk and used on the G3 and G4 Macs long before Apple went to Intel for processors. Always use a digital connection in OS X.

Yes, just like me when I started computers and programming in the 80's! lol Unfortunately, they keep selling brand new monitors that are VGA only if you don't want to pay a lot. And with kids, you don't want to. Plus, they work on everything, but we may have hit the exception. Even worked on the Intel GPU. However, as I said, I'll pull one from my studio, but even though it's a pita, I'm left with no other options at this point. lol

If you must use a VGA connection on a monitor then the basic GT 210 GPU works. Apple provide an active Displayport to VGA adapter that should work - you will get third party active adapters that may also work at a slightly better price, but the basic passive adapters do not work. Try with a DVI connection as that should progress much better.

If your GT 740 has DDR5 RAM , then you probably also need the additional nvidia drivers. The DDR3 version is just a rebadged older kepler tech GT 640

Yes, I think VGA may be the problem. Please let us know how it goes with your DVI display.

Ok, I have it working!!! I tried a DVI monitor and it did the same thing. It was what Kazbah suggested. nv_disable=1
Although I tried that in the past, but I now know I had a syntax error because one of the keys on my keyboard was not mapping correctly and I plugged in my Mac keyboard a few days ago and this time while trying it, it worked! YAY!

So, now I just have 2 simple questions. How can I store that switch in Clover so I don't have to keep typing it? Also, at this point I'm having the classic video lines problem and need the web driver. Can someone paste the link here? It's extremely hard to type with the line issue as I'm writing this from the actual custo.

Thank you everyone! I really appreciate the efforts of all!
