Yea that 7MB of VRAM and No Kext Loaded is indicative of the graphics card not being accelerated. When NVIDIA finally gives the macOS Sierra beta drivers with NVDAGP100Hal.kext then your card can be taken full advantage of.

Really cool that you have one- i'm sure in Windows it smokes!!

So does this mean we can safely upgrade to 1080 cards and they'll work - albeit without acceleration for a while - but normal OS functions will be fine? And as soon as Sierra drivers are out, we'll be all good?
You can mimick the behavior of "no drivers" by booting with "nv_disable=1" flag.

Personally I wouldn't consider software rendering as acceptable, but you can easily try it yourself.

I would say yes... and no...
e.g. sometimes if I switch the cables it messes with my default bootloader argument. But I didnt encounter any OSX Bugs when using 960... (and leaving the 1070 unplugged)

Alright, so this should work for me too then.
Anything special about your setup?
What's your power consumtion? is the 1080 running full blast when in OSX?

Well it gets surprisingly warm. the air from the fans is at least 40C. just like normal "idle".

Here is a screen shot of my GTX 1080
How many monitors do you have? I am looking into purchase a 1080 for a hackintosh build, but I feel that the os will not be able to support 3 monitors. I know the GPU can though. Can you help me out?

I have 3 monitors currently with my GTX 660, I just received my GTX 1080 Founders Edition and I'm going to test it out.

I am pretty sure it will not work with the GTX 1080, but I do have an 8x8 matrix switcher, so I am planning on leaving the GTX 660 in the hackintosh along with the 1080. So basically my inputs 1,2,3 will be connected to the GTX660 and inputs 4,5,6 will be connected to the GTX1080 for when I want to game in windows.

Hope fully I wont have a problem with using two cards, I will keep everyone posted though.

My Specs:
i7 5820K
Gigabyte GA-X99-Ultra Gaming
1 TB Samsung Evo OSX El Capitan
1 TB Samsung Evo Windows
GTX660

Currently everything works, sound, lan, sleep, speedstep, sound resume from sleep all on 10.11.5

Can you test the gtx 1080 out as a stand alone and tell me how it works out?

If someone is able to complete this, can you please let me know. Thanks in advance!
