Check software you are using also could be a culprit. I know the avid core audio driver for pro tools 11 wont let computer shut down in el capitan but works in yosemite

I wiped my drive clean and if I boot with the USB to the installer, but shut down from he installer, it STILL reboots.

I believe it has to either be.....

1.) Something in the Config.plist or Kexts (I hope it is this)
2.) Something strange in BIOS (unsure though, since I've reflashed current BIOS and done Defaults)
3.) Some sort of super difficult to diagnose hardware issue. (Unsure again, as Windows and Linux shut down fine)

That's too bad! It should not be doing this. There must be some sort of error I am not sure what it is, but you definitely should not have that problem. Maybe make a few posts in the forums asking for help. I'm sorry I can't be of more help!

If all else fails try Yosemite

here is a guide i made on that

http://www.tonymacx86.com/yosemite-...mite-10-10-x-full-temp-guide-100-working.html

it works 100% you would just need a USB Ethernet adapter as it has a random restart issue if you use the on-board LAN for some reason (this is why I moved to El Capitan, otherwise I would have stayed on Yosemite). Good luck!

Thanks so much for the in-depth guide. I followed your steps on my MSI X99s Sli Plus board, with the 5820k and GTX980. Long story short, I have El Capitan installed, Nvidia web drivers, and the machine is booting off the EFI partition on the SSD.

The only pitfall is that the machine will not boot if more than one monitor is plugged in. If I plug in any monitors after the machine makes it to the login screen they all work. Did you encounter this? Any tips?

Thanks,
JC

Was able to figure it out, must've been a bug in the BIOS or SOMETHING. Took the machine apart and removed CMOS. Let it totally drain out, set it back up, no reboots after shutdown. Thanks again Malki for all your dedication to putting this guide together!

That was my first instinct. Downgraded to the beta drivers and then back to the current version. No luck, really weird.

As long as I don't turn it off, this is the best Hackintosh that I've gotten to work thus far.

Great! Thanks for thanking me. I actually put this guide together because it was fun learning how to get the computer working. I'm surprised it has gotten so much feedback. Glad it helped you and anyone else who replied. These guides also help me for when I want to reinstall or build one for a friend. I always forget what I did so it's good to have a comprehensive guide to remind myself too.

Hope you get it worked out

This tutorial is thee best on the internet from start to finish. Thank you very much!! Few things to note.

This tutorial works great for the GA-X99-UD5 with the same setup with the exception of the choice of using the Mac pro 6,1 and patching the graphics drivers. What did work for me is choosing iMac 14.2.

BTW, you were right, over clocking and setting the memory to profile 1 is extremely smooth and fast.

I spoke too soon! Everything was working perfect, fast as ever and then it looks like I got a kernel panic. The boot halted at system uptime. Interesting thing was i cloned the my ssd to hdd and it boots up. Any ideas?
