OS X 10.11.4 Update

Status
Not open for further replies.
Replaced OSXAptio to v2 and updated clover before update to 10.11.4. Reboot with new clover and aptio driver worked fine on 10.11.3. But after install (from AppStore update), cannot boot to 10.11.4, except in safe mode .

On kernel panic, sometime errors are reported as below, sometimes not. Either way, it just reboots again, but never gets past this panic (unless in safe mode). Wonder if changing any boot flags can fix this. Suggestions? Verbose shows this:

Audio cannot be implemented with only a DSDT patch (always requires kexts...)

This is false. I've been using HDMI audio with only a DSDT edit since 10.7 and have updated OS X from the app store directly since that OS version and audio has never broken before. I have never used an audio kext or patched anything other than toleda's HDMI Nvidia dsdt edit. It may no longer be possible with only a DSDT edit, but it definitely used to be. I'd like to know what's changed here regarding this.

I replaced the vanilla AppleHDA.kext from the 10.11.4 installer using Kext Wizard and then tried the audio_cloverALC-110 command again, it returns the same thing as before.

Check kextcache output. Check that Info.plist in AppleHDA.kext has the appropriate entries in OSBundleLibraries (as it has in vanilla AppleHDA Info.plist).

My AppleHDA.kext Info.plist does contain
Code:
<key>com.apple.iokit.IOACPIFamily</key>
<string>1.2.0a1</string>
<key>com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily</key>
<string>1.1</string>
in the OSBundledLibraries dictionary.

Output from kextcahe:

EDIT: I got it working by deleting /Library/Extensions/AppleHDA892.kext which had AppleHDALoader.kext in it as a plugin. The AppleHDALoader.kext Info.plist looked similar to the AppleHDA.kext Info.plist, but had the two new IOPCIDevice and IOACPIPlatformDevice keys missing. After removing the AppleHDA892.kext, rebooting, and running the audio_cloverACL-110 command, and one more reboot, audio is working again! Thanks for the help (in making me read the darn logs).

Successfully updated to 10.11.4 via Mac App Store.

Updated Clover to 3368 and then installed the update (even though I already had OsxAptioFix2Drv-64.
The first reboot during the update took longer than normal (had a black screen for 30 seconds).
My Clover had ig-platform already set for HD4000 otherwise I'd have a full black screen.
My DSDT was also patched already so my battery status and brightness worked after the update.

Audio (AppleHDA) did not work, as expected, after the update.
Replaced vanilla AppleHDA with patched AppleHDA and worked fine (DSDT patched already).

Good luck everyone!

Even if what you are saying is true, there is still a kext that allows your existing audio/HDMI audio to work (most likely in this case, a vanilla AppleHDA kext). The vanilla kext in addition with your DSDT patch is probably why your audio never broke after updates.

Check kextcache output. Check that Info.plist in AppleHDA.kext has the appropriate entries in OSBundleLibraries (as it has in vanilla AppleHDA Info.plist).

Rehabman sorry 4 disturbing you ... any hint on my audio distortion?!?!? ... see my post #200 ... thank you!

I really need help with x99 system after update. I swaped to FixDrv2 and I have random allocated memory error when booting. Other times, it boots ok. I think it is because of the test2.efi, which is a version of osxaptiofix-lowmemory to solve some x99 system problems. Somebody with x99 system can help me?

I see the same error for like <1 second until it reboots.

Also had FixDrv2 in the EFI folder since months, nevertheless I tried different 'versions' of it with no success.
I'm on a Z87 with AMD HD7970, every update until 10.11.4 was just a reboot only...
