Thanks very much for this guide.

I've got my build up and running; very close to stable.

Hardware:

5820k
Asus X99-A
GTX 980 ti

Issue:

The computer will only boot into Yosemite half the time.. the other half just goes to black screen and restarts.

Any idea why this would be happening?

I'll post a -v boot log when I get home from work.

Thanks

Any clue about why i can't find the kernel directory on the USB build from Unibeast ?

adriavidals-Mac:Library adriavidal$ ls

CoreServices LaunchDaemons Speech
DTDs OpenDirectory StartupItems
Displays OpenSSL SystemConfiguration
Extensions Perl SystemProfiler
Filesystems PrelinkedKernels User Template
Filters Printers UserEventPlugins

adriavidals-Mac:Library adriavidal$

I need to find it to patch the kernel ;-D

open terminal and write
Code:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE;killall Finder

patch kernel and after that
Code:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles FALSE;killall Finder

Hi,

I have exactly the same config as you rbbunmc
This is not my first hackintosh but I have a weird issue and can not boot with UniBeast usb key. I think it might be related to the bios configuration. As writted in this guide the following options must be checked :

Intel xHCI Mode = Auto
xHCI Legacy Support = Enabled
EHCI Legacy Support = Enabled
xHCI Hand-off = Enabled
EHCI Hand-off = Enabled

My problem is that I can't find the xHCI Legacy Support option in my bios settings to enable it and I suppose that's why I can't event boot on the usb drive (made by following the instructions).

Any clue on how I could enable xHCI in the bios (currently version 3102) ?

Many thanks.

What kind of disk do you use? SSD or HDD? And what kind of firewire adapter do you use?
PS wow did you put 128MB DDR4???

Thanks for getting back thenightflyer.
I feel a bit stupid, cause I don't wanna waste your pros time :)

But you questions made me realize that it hadn't anything to do with my internal drives. I was focusing on them, not realizing it happened when I attached external drives to a hub that's with a 4 meter cable from the computer. I was using that when installing all my software (my computer is in another room). My soundcard which actually uses USB is also connected to that hub. So I imagine that's were the problems starts, though I never had the problem with my old computer on Mountain Lion.
Luckily the problem is not there when plugin external drives directly in the PC.
I'm gonna do a bit of testing, trying to get a longer cable and connect my soundcard directly to the PC, seeing if that solves the problem :)

Thanks a lot for your help. And by the way, my OSX is on an SSD. I have samples running on both SSD and HDD. And yes, 128GB DDR4 (though it only shows them as DDR3 in "about this mac"). Anyway, I don't like latency on my samples when composing music, so being able to pre-load a lot is the key!
I used more or less @maxdubs overclocking settings on page 29 and getting a good Geekbench.
Now I can instantly play 2500 voices on one time without any hiccups.

i'm looking inside /Volumes/USB via terminal, the AppleshowAllfiles is not needed for these, only affect to finder.

I've tried and the directory is not there.
Could someone post a clean or patched kernel for yosemite ?

We have the same OC settings and I've no problems too in loading samples and big samples especially libraries for Kontakt. This is due to my thunderbolt 12TB raid where I store all sample libraries...
what kind of ddr4 did you buy? Can you give me model?

Your answer shows that maybe you didn't understand very well rbbunmc' s guide.
appleshowallfile code I put in my post it's a command to show hidden files and directory and doesn't affect finder....the only effect on finder is that you see hidden files after launched it. Read carefully again rbbunmc guide and try the codes I wrote you....

Sorry, i've tried with and without the command

defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE;killall Finder

and inside /Volumes/USB/System/Library/ can't find the Kernels directory.

defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE;killall Finder

Problem solved, I was using UniBeast 6.1, that is using Clover as bootloader even for Yosemite, and Clover don't need a copy of the original kernel.

Let's continue the process.

Thanks!
